Friday morning tee time at CC, a little cool when we started but finished in 75 degree sunshine. Great layout and awesome views. Course was top notch shape some of the tee boxes have new sod, fairways and rough have good coverage. Was in one fairway trap that had good sand, greens are in great shape. Really need to play here a couple times to know where to hit the greens, some of the greens have a crown to them and ball rolls off to collection areas. Staff very organized and POP was four hours would have been a little faster the group in front of us were struggling a bit and let us play through on 8. Parking lot was packed when we were done.
Snack bar and bar open and outdoor seating available. Will be back out here soon.

2/22 using GK coupon @39 on a balmy but breezy morning good spacing on tee times no waiting but still a 4hr POP due to our random ineptitude. Course is challenging and extremely scenic being remote and mostly surrounded by wild lands. Fairways have decent cover some thinish areas but quite playable. Mostly firm but generally enough cushion to prevent too much bounce. Rough was varied out in the open rather whispy and easy to hit from while in some shaded areas thick and grabby. Tees were just ok with some lacking cover and being really firm. Also depending on tee placement there was occasional slope--we played the whites ands though the yardage looked on the shorter side the course still has teeth.
Bunkers were the weakest part as they played tougher than they looked. Were groomed and looked and even felt soft but tended to have a hard base making it easy to bounce and thin shots--could use a good deep churn which also could be counter productive due to current covid no rake provision.
Greens are in good condition and are quite the challenge with many being elevated and all being quite firm with tough reads and breaks at the hole. It became apparent the putts really had to carry speed through the hole but that lead to some 4-6 foot come backers and way too many 3 putts.
Small driving range with soft matts. Informative GPS with distance to trouble. Welcoming friendly staff. Great layout with good variety.

Made the trek out to CrossCreek today 12/22/20. Rode the Blues, (71.2/132) Tee'd off at 8:10 and finished right after 12. We could have been done much faster but the group in front of us decided to play a scramble amongst themselves and they were pretty slow. The course is in very good shape considering the cold and wind that had been happening over the last few weeks. The greens are in ideal conditions, the fairways don't look great but they the best I have played since October. The sand was soft in most places, (I was only in 2 bunkers and they were good) although some did look wet. CrossCreek should be on your bucket list if you live anywhere near here. If I lived close by I would join the mens club, because the 3-year deal they have is a steal. The best part about this course is the price, $54 to ride.

CrossCreek is a gem of a golf course in terms of looks. The layout is both really fun and challenging. The views are exceptional, and the homes within view are what California Ranchers dreamed of when they bought property.

Everyone from the clubhouse manager, to the starter, to the marshal's were encouraging and funny. They certainly understand customer service here. I would rate them a 10/10. The cart girl found us 3 times, and while today I was not drinking, as usual, it was nice to know she was there.

Do yourself a favor and play CrossCreek.

Early Sunday morning round in about 4.5 hours. I've played here many times but have never seen fivesomes? We had to pass by a group of them on the fourth hole or wait on every shot. Then coming down the ninth fairway we see another fivesome playing the first hole?? We saw a marshall on the 10th tee and asked him when did they start allowing them? Not sure if he broke them up or not. This course is tough to finish in four hours without fivesomes slowing the pace of play. The staff is always friendly and helpful every visit here. The tee boxes were all in good shape with a couple slightly sloped. The rough was long enough to do it's job of keeping bad shots in play. The fairways had good coverage with a hotspot here and there throughout the course but not a problem. The traps needed a good raking but had enough sand in them. The greens had been plugged earlier in the week but really were in much better condition than I thought they would be. I would estimate in a couple weeks they will be firm and fast again. The location of this place makes the drive worth it. Quiet and peaceful with wonderful scenery. Recommended.

Played Cross Creek on 9/20 with a 1250pm tee time and teed off about 15 min late due to a stacked tee sheet. The pace was better than anticipated as we finished in under 5 hours. The course is in decent shape with the greens probably the best part of the course. There are some tough holes where a little right or left will cost you a lost ball. Overall, we had an enjoyable round at a challenging course. The $53 to ride in the afternoon is a little pricey IMO.

First off a big thanks to those that came out to support our GK Cup 15 final Saturday and to Crosscreek Golf Club for hosting it. Congratulations to dconnally in winning GK Cup 15. What a great match he and kassper7 put on!

It’s been a record breaking number of rounds for CrossCreek since they opened back up from COVID-19 closure in April. Saturday was no exception. I was impressed right away that they did not hesitate to offer golfers the ability to ride as a single at no extra charge despite being low on carts. In addition the staff was very friendly and taking COVID-19 precautions. Masks were required in the clubhouse but not on the driving range or practice putting green. On the golf course the flagstick was equipped with the pool noddle insert to prevent the ball from dropping to the bottom of the hole but provided ample room for it enter the hole unimpeded.

It had been some time since I played CrossCreek GC and soon after the losing my first tee shot into the hazard on the right I remember how tough this layout is. A gorgeous setting with a fantastic variety of golf holes. Please check out the photos I posted.

Conditions were about what I expected and the previous reviews from those in our group describe them well. Overall the greens ran smooth, medium-fast and mostly soft. The greens being mostly soft was the biggest surprise of the day for me because in all previous times playing CrossCreek the green were very firm. Great job over there to make them more receptive. Fairways were mostly lush but a mixed bag in that on golf holes where there was lots of slope they were thin to lush but holes mostly level lush to thin. The best fairways were on the closing 5 holes which were entirely lush so it was nice to end the round on an up note. Rough was very inconsistent and mostly thin. However there are thick patches out there mostly greenside. My accuracy was off Saturday so in all honesty anytime I was not in a hazard I was happy! – LOL. As far as bunkers, very thin borderline dirt in the fairways. I saw a couple bunkers designated as GUR and others that could have been. Around the greens mostly in decent “COVID-19” shape with acceptable sand. Tee boxes, this is a tough one to evaluate because the white tees are by far the most popular given the forced carries from the blue tees. It was my first time playing the white tees at CrossCreek and they were heavily worn on most holes with repair mix, not very level and some divot damage. I’m not too sure what they can do about those being the tee boxes are pretty small to begin with and they can’t really move those white tees back to the blues. Blues tee looked to be in much better condition. Overall the golf course is in very good condition with the greens the highlight for sure.

Note; besides a shot of data you get on the 12 green and 13 tee box there is no cell phone service on the golf course. They do have free wifi in the clubhouse.

I continue to be big fan of Crosscreek and know one day I finally play well on it. Highly Recommended.

Played just after noon on Saturday, 7/18/20, in the GK Cup 15 final match with kassper7, JohnnyGK, and HmtGolfGuy. Hot, breezy, and sunny weather and the course was in very good condition. I hadn’t played here since a GK event in May 2016, so I didn’t remember many details of the course. There are many opportunities here to lose balls or play from hazards/rough ground if you are offline here, especially but not exclusively on the back nine. The terrain here, again mostly on the back nine, is difficult for my limited mobility with many steep sideslopes and walks up and down slopes to get to tees, greens, and errant shots. Greens were the best part of the course, with very god coverage and rolling smoothly at medium+ speeds. They were mostly pretty receptive, although I got a couple of hard ‘skip’ bounces when I came in a little low and hot. The 6-location pin wheel setup used for flag placements seems to result in the pins frequently being pushed well toward the edges of the green, rather than more centered. This was especially problematic when approaching elevated plateau greens with left- or right-front pin positions! Fairways generally had good coverage and gave good lies. Rough could be very short and playable or deeper and soft. The course in some rough areas has allowed the kikuyu to grow deep and soft - hitting into these areas, whether along fairways or around greenside slopes, quickly kills any roll and can result in soft, awkward stances. I wasn’t in any of the bunkers but other players appeared to have adequate conditions. Tees were mostly level – I remember only #15 (White) sloping to the rear of a right-handed golfer; par-3 tees, however, were pretty torn up. I enjoyed the course but it’s a long drive from South OC, and the terrain makes it difficult for me. I saw a couple of younger players walking the course and I just had to shake my head. I do recommend the course for others to play, however.

Played Saturday 7/18 with the GK Cup finals groups, playing with Matt, Wendy and Greg. I have only played here once and did not remember it very well. The staff was efficient and every one I dealt with was pleasant. We sat out on the veranda for the Cup presentation ceremony and it is a nice area for an after round beer. POP turned out to be decent also, a little over 4.5 hours on a Saturday afternoon.

The conditions were a mixed bag. As Matt said, the tee boxes were a lowlight. The greens were a highlight. Good speed and rolled well. They were relatively difficult to read I found. The fairway bunkers ran from dreadful to barely acceptable. I played one as GUR because it was unplayable with no sand and erosion channels through the dirt. The one greenside bunker I was in was in nice shape. I thought the fairways were fine. I did not have a bad lie in the fairway. Rough was more mixed. Anything outside the rough was gone. Jungle with poison oak and rattlesnake signs everywhere.

I had a good time even though I drove the ball poorly after the first six holes, which is a killer here. I am not a fan of the layout, I thought it required some local knowledge, although Matt gave us the benefit of his experience so we had that. The layout verged on quirky. I thought the par threes were fun though. Overall, I expect I will come back and give it another try.

Played on 7/18 at noon with the Gk Cup crew. It had been a few years since I have played here at CrossCreek and the conditions remained similar to then. Arrived early and took some time to warm up on their small but adequate range. The putting green was consistent with what it was on the course so kuddos to the staff.

Tee Boxes- For as long as I can remeber the tee boxes have never been good at CrossCreek and today was not exception. A majority of them were beat up and unlevel. I just dont get it.

Fairways- were a mix of a few grasses and some very thin spots. Out of the 8 FIR I had on this day one 3 have nice grass lies. Now looking at the course I could've had some bad luck because it was mostly full coverage but a overseed would do this place real good.

Rough- There isn't a ton of rough on the course that isn't wasteland unless you are near the green. That rough was real nice to hit from as long as the ball didn't settle.

Greens- Greens were not too firm but not too soft and rolled medium fast on the day. The only issue I had was the non-repaired ball marks from all of the play fromt he day. It cause lots of bumps in the putt which is not the courses fault.

Sand- I was in 1 fairway bunker that was just dirt and two greenside bunkers that were new sand and nice to play from. Looks like they are in the process of redoing the bunkers as a few were GUR.

Overall- I love the layout of the course and will be back but dont expect a perfect condition until maybe the winter. The carts are nice and have a basic GPS that gives front middle back distances as well as hazards in the fairways. Staff was super friendly and that makes it worth it right there.

PS- Talking to the starter he said the last few weeks have been the busiest he has ever seen the place with around 240 golfers a day. Hopefully with this extra income they can address the tee's and fairways.
