Ventured out to Cross Creek this Monday August 1 with a 7:40am tee time. Arrived early as I wanted to warm-up, but there was no staff around (which was a theme throughout the day). After a few minutes someone arrived and I got setup with a cart. Guy mentioned a starter would get me when it was time to tee off. Never saw any starter and people seemed to be going to the first tee randomly. Went to first tee around 10 minutes early and noticed 2 gentlemen teeing off, asked them their time and it was 7:20, so I decided to wait. They were clearly struggling so I hung back a little. They continued to struggle and on the 3rd tee a Father/Son two-some caught up to me and I had them join me. Two nice guys and we had an enjoyable round finishing in 3 hours 50 minutes.

Conditions were generally good across the board, but the greens were soft and slow, which was understandable given the warm summers in Temecula. It had been years since I played here so very little recollection of the course. I really enjoyed the layout, but it does have some quirks that could be more easily managed if you played the course frequently. The two-some in front of us ultimately sped up and we did not wait on them the rest of the round. So that was a big positive. Great views of the local vineyards and there are houses near the course.

Tee boxes generally level, some divot issues and unevenness, but never had trouble finding a reasonable spot to tee from. Fairways generally good to hit from with decent rollout. Rough was a bit hit or miss, but would stop a ball from rolling into an unplayable area. Greens were generally smooth, consistent, soft, but quite slow. Bunkers were in excellent shape with lots of sand.

Even though this was a long drive for me and there was almost no service (or cell service), I enjoyed the round and at $68 I felt it was a bargain. Highly recommended.

Sunday morning round on a cool day in 4.5 hours. The course has gotten busier with the new ownership and course improvements. The rates have increased and they no longer have senior or valley resident rates. Bummer. The rates are actually inline with what is offered compared to the local offerings. The staff is friendly and helpful. The practice green is large enough and they range is adequate. The biggest complaint is the CARTS are sad. Really sad. Ours rattled and rolled through the course much to our surprise for all 18 holes. Hopefully they will be replaced by the end of summer. The carts have basic gps which took us several holes to realize it's worthless. The yardage readings were off from a few yards to twenty yards which can be brutal to your score if you were to rely on it. There is no cell service either but also no homes either anywhere near the course. The tee boxes were all in passable shape with some being a little thin and a couple are still not level. Those muddy tee boxes no longer exist! There was not much in the way of rough on many holes but fairly thick were it was present. The fairways all had pretty nice coverage with more bermuda than I remember. There were a few tight lies but the turf was damp enough. The traps were mostly all fairly well groomed but most had hard thin lies. The greens were their usual quick selves but much firmer than ever before. They could have used a good rolling as they were a little bumpy at times. Most of the greens did not hold shots very well, even really well struck shots. The greens sounded hollow with hardly any ball marks and total coverage from the first to last hole. The forced carry holes are looking better with some of the sections cleared out and trees trimmed. The course is really looking up and I'm pretty confident that the new ownership will continue with the upgrades. Definitely a course to play if you haven't but be warned you will be humbled by the challenge.

Played 12/26 10:20 am, just hours after the Xmas '21 rains for So Cal finished rolling through. We knew we would be playing in CPO and free relief from flooded bunkers, but we just had to get out there and play anyway(call us diehards, thrillseekers, idiots or all of the above). 57 degrees and partial sunny skies; I immediately shed my layers down to just a polo shirt after hole 1(CPO is good for exercise, but hell on old knees & feet). The tee sheet was full, we asked; and we casually offered the starter to use our 3-some to juggle us in earlier if it would help him out(...help me...help you...). He watched us warm up for about 20 minutes and approached to offer us to move up two slots...we accepted. We had less than expected waiting on shots, for a Sunday, even with CPO! POP was 4:40.
A handful of tee boxes were pretty wet, but the rest shed the rain pretty good. Two boxes had a noticeable crown, otherwise all were good.
Fairways shed the rain well...not like the practice range, which now had two decent sized ponds to hit to. Coverage is good for December and roll out really wasn't limited by the wetness.
Rough was cut to a good helpful length everywhere.
Bunkers were only partially flooded and could have been played from by pickers like me...but the starter said no playing from them at all today, just retrieve and get free relief.
Greens were good, no standing water and uniform speed and break. We were expecting to encounter damp and slow, but it wasn't. Rolled medium speeds in just about all directions. Ball marks were mostly being attended to, more so than usual for a Sunday, thanks to the fellow golfers for that.
Cross Creek is out of the way and has limited cell coverage, which is alright in my book. There's two or three quirky holes, #18 being one of them, but I like the idea of eventually mastering them. In fact, I got an FIR and GIR(from 177 out) on 18, only to 3 putt...grrrrr (this green is totally in the shade in the afternoons in winter). The carts have basic gps(textual range reporting and pace) that is mostly accurate compared to my laser RF. We saw the drink cart twice and the course marshal once. Customer service is good and so is the course, 'I shall return'. Recommended.

Played 12/4/2021. Got caught in 1st tee traffic due to Bad Fog in the morning. My tee time was at noon but they were backed up 45 minutes. Course is in very good shape. Fairways had minimal if any bare areas and coverage was uniform. Greens were rolling very nice and had a sneaky quickness. Tee boxes were ok. Always a beautiful place to play and the crisp autumn air was nice.

I played here last Sunday, 6:40 tee time; $78 riding; POP 4:15. The last time I played here it was with a GK event 5 years ago. I recall somewhat better conditions then, but it's not bad now. Mostly good, playable conditions throughout the course. It was somewhat firm most everywhere, except for the greens, which tells me that they probably need to dial in that irrigation better.

Greens: The greens were receptive to most shots and I had no problem getting balls to stick. I fixed quite a number of ball marks all day so, although a bit disappointing, it tells me that they were well moisturized. They were quick and had subtle breaks that I failed to read properly many times.

Fairways and rough: Well, I did not find too many fairways, but my shots tended to roll through with a lot of momentum. They were firm and straw-color to light green in most areas exposed to the sun; other areas through the trees tended to be a bit greener/lusher. The rough was about 1.5" and was not very penal.

Bunkers: No rakes were seen. I was not in any, but the sand was nice, light-colored, and seemed easy enough for my playing partners to hit from.

Tees: We played the White tees. They all were level and it was easy to find a place to hit from.

My overall experience was good. I arrived early enough to hit some range balls. We were hitting from the grass and there were a handful of targets to hit to. The starter at Hole 1/Range was friendly and helpful. For $78 I kind of thought overall conditions would be better; I don't know if it's really worth it. Maybe I thought it would be nicer. I did see the beverage cart once, but we did start early. Also, the POP was not all that good considering it was virtually the crack of dawn. I'm told that it's often like that here.

Early morning 4.5 hour round with the ball hunters today. The staff is friendly and the tee times are ten minutes apart which helps with the pace of play, unless your following the drinking group! The carts have basic gps and shake, rattle and roll their way around the course well enough. The tee boxes are mostly level with a few being slightly sloped all had adequate coverage but as usual the first was a little damp. The rough was pretty thick and held up the bad shots from the poison oak, gopher holes and rattlesnakes. Shots could be struck from it but your usual yardage was not possible. The traps were almost all damp with a few having standing water and no rakes either. The fairways had fairly good coverage with some tight lies but soft enough to hit from. There were sections of spotty coverage and TON's of gopher mounds and holes everywhere! The greens had maintenance done a few weeks back but were still inconsistent, bumpy and slower than usual. The back nine greens seemed to be in better condition than the front. The poa grass seems to have overtaken the entire 18 holes? The location is off the beaten path but the setting, rates and course conditions make the drive worth the trip. No cell service for the most part in the area either.

As a result, we were able to play in a tick over 2 1/2 hours. A very nice comfortable pace at this course, which can be rather demanding, particularly when you play poorly.

The greens were a major disappointment. I thought that since it had been three weeks since they were punched, they would be OK - NOT ! They were bumpy & slow ! Both bunkers I found were filled with water from sprinklers, so hard to fairly rate them. Fairways for the most part were fine, as were the tee boxes.

I was taught that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything, so my feeling about customer service will be to just say nothing. I like Cross Creek. I think it is a fine course, presents quite a stern test and is most interesting, but I won't be rushing back any time soon.

Very casual, comfortable feel around clubhouse B4 and following round.
Always a good visit despite travel distance. Still don't like #18!

3/9 coolish with some breeze but overall a pleasant almost spring AM with 900 tee time and a 430 POP following a deliberate 4some with a 3some directly ahead of us and pushed by 3some following. Kind of rubber banded as surprisingly 1 or more of us had the occasional wayward shot that slowed us down and with out those we were generally waiting. Conditions as reported by sparky14 were quite good. Fairways mostly provided good to ok lies with enough cushion while being firm enough to add some roll. Rough was patchy. Tees were the weakest part though some have been re-sodded so it is a work in progress. The 2 bunkers I found were playable but rather on the firm side.
Greens are a challenge especially with most of the pins today being on the cusp and seeming to have significant break as the ball slows around the hole, Firm and at least medium fast.
Love the layout and the opportunity to commune with nature.
