Played this course on 7/16/07 for the first time. Course in good to excellent shape with some brown spots. Greens in good shape but that day the maintenance crew was putting sand on them. Not an overly long course yardage wise but a lot of elevation change with both uphill and downhill holes. There are some blind shots as well and course will be easier to play the next time knowing the layout now. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the course and will plan on playing it again when I am in the area.

Walked on as a single and was able to play alone. Round was just under 3 hours. I played my own pace and did not have to wait for anyone. It was a great day and if you can get off of work on a weekday... Continue »

After reading the comments, here I was considering not playing here and driving up a few more miles to La P...But I really wanted to try something new and I'm glad a took a chance. Played on a Friday morning. All the comments aboutr pace of play had me geared up for a 5+ hour round...but we finished in a little over 4 and 1/2. Luckily we got pair with a few locals, who were nice enough to give the "tourists" the lay of the land and we had a very enjoyable round.

Sure, there were a few tricked up holes, but the conditions were great. The greens were fast and true. The rough was long (4-5 inches) and made you think about club selecttion and keeping it in the fairways!

Wanted to go out for a replay and get revenge on a few holes, but the twilight-ers had the front side backed up. Will definitely go back again and try to better my score.

Glen Annie is a course that just cant. I read a few months ago that the course cost 15 million to build and as its former self (a lemon orchard) it was valued at 9 million. As its current self (a golf course) it has a value of 7 million. The reason is very simple. It is a terribly designed golf course. It is obvious to me that this was not developed by a golfer - a golfer would never have OK's some of those holes.

The layout is very, very, I repeat very weak. The conditions are always great but they set the course up for Players with deep rough and fast greens, blind shots and the need to work the ball. The problem is that Players don't like to play the course. To have 3 reachable par 4's and two of the worst opening holes I have ever played #1 and #10 - it really is a mistake.

The views are fantastic from the tee at 11 (the best par 3 in SB ) but the course needs to be set up for the hacker. If they removed the rough and gave the average 25 handicapper a chance then people might actually play here. But as its current self it really is a just a bad course in great shape.

There are a few nice holes though. Number 8 is nice, Number 11, and 16 are good holes but the rest including 14 ( a ridiculous double dogleg par 5) are average at best. And some stick in the memory as just plain silly

To top it off it always, and I mean always plays slow. You will be waiting on every tee. The reachable par 4's make this worst since every hacker who once hit a 280 Yard drive waits in order to go-for-the-green.

The plus is that it is always in great shape. So while the design is horrible the conditioning is fantastic.

If you are coming up to play it then get off at HWY 154 and drive over the pass to Rancho San Marcos. For the same price you get one of the prettiest courses in the state and a full 18 holes.

Pace of play was pathetic. It took 5 hours and 45 minutes to play. There was a tournament in the morning, plus the course design slows play and then on the backside, we got caught behind a foursome who has memories of the Civil War. Their drives were all of about 50 yards, then they would wait until they had 300 yards in front of them to hit their next shot. Never saw a marshall to speed them up. They ended up two holes behind by the time we finished.
The course is gimmicky with lots of blind shots and the worst rough I have ever seen. It's bermuda grass and at least 3 inches in length. The ball sits down below the blades in the roots and you have to hack it out.
If you can play on a discount, I would recommend it, but I would definitely not pay full price.

However, the location, views and course conditions do a lot to offset the negatives. The greens today were great; how is it that Glenn Annies tee boxes are so pristine and this seems to be such a huge issue for other daily fee tracks...traps near perfect, fairways very good. Well worth on occasional visit.

Just took advantage of their May special for Tri-County residents with my friends. Well worth the 45 minute drive to S.B. Coures was in great shape from tee to greens. Total yardage from back tees was only little over 6400, but very challenging. Lots of blind shots, making it challenging for the first timer, but if you took a look around the corners yoy could do ok. I managed an 85 from the back tees, not bad for my first round their. The rest of my buddies didn't do as well , but we all enjoyed the day. The veiws from their elevated tees were breath taking. I hope to get out there again soon. 9+ in my book, wish rates could stay this low for all courses.

Played sun 4/23. Lame course. It's in good shape, still recovering from aeration. But there were at least 4 holes that were just lame. When you play a course for the first time, I think one of the determining factors of a good course layout is, you shouldn't have to guess where the fairway is, and where to aim for. It can be challenging, but it shouldn't be a puzzle. If I lived in the area, I would never play there.

I was a bit disappointed with my round - while this course is nice it certainly is not worth an 8 1/2 rating. The greens had recently been aerated and were very sandy and bumpy. The layout is varied and leads to some interesting shots but there are too many short holes. Wide shots become unplayable due to severe underbrush. A pleasant day but as I was in the area but I wouldn't drive a long distance to get here. Playing Sandpiper next - that should be a challenge.
