Late review of the course. Played 7/24/25 @ 835am... When I heard the news that Glen Annie was being torn down for housing, I had to get over here. One of my favs in the area second to Sandpiper. I was heartbroken to find out what they're planning to do to such a fun course. This course will not beat you up with it's length, but you have to be accurate if you don't want to lose a lot of balls. Tee boxes ok for the most part with the par 3s on the chewed up side. Fairways can be a little thin since most of the course is on a hill. Rough almost non-existent and sporadic at best- it's almost the same length as the fairway. Sand traps are crap I'm not gonna lie- small to large rocks mixed in with dirt. Greens rolled nice and smooth and only got bumpier toward the afternoon. A really fun and enjoyable course! If you have been wanting to play here or if you have played here before and liked it, you better get up here soon, it might not be here for much longer...

Played 12/19/24 @ 0700. I was initially placed with a twosome and a single, but the starter was nice enough to let me out on my own. Thank goodness, cuz I was able to finish in 2 hours 27 minutes as a single- and I was taking my time. One of my favorite courses to play when I'm up here. I love the layout and all the elevation changes throughout. Good grass coverage unless you're in the outer edges, but you shouldn't be there in the first place. Lots of native areas in the back nine. Fairways were kind of dormant because of the time of year, rough easy to get out of and didn't affect ball contact that much. Greens were nice and receptive and rolled well. The sand traps... just stay out of them! They're the only thing that is holding this course back. It's just dirt with a lot of rocks and pebbles that will mess up your wedge. The views on the back nine are pretty spectacular!

Paid full price $99 for punched and sanded greens! No discounts for unplayable greens I booked with a large group otherwise I would have left. Totally unacceptable!!

Got my first Glen Annie experience this past week and it was certainly one to remember - some good, some bad and a lot of in-between. I think it was worth the $100 or so greens fee (with cart because you seriously can't walk this one) just for the unique track and great views of the Pacific and Channel Islands. We also got range balls for that rate and the range itself is pretty archaic and small. It's serviceable though with terrible mats and balls with shots going up a narrowing and dry canyon. There's a putting green right next door that prepares you for what's ahead, and it's not pretty when it comes to those things. I used to always believe that the hardest opening hole (playing from the back tees) in SoCal was at Knollwood, but I stand corrected. Glen Annie's first hole is a monster, semi-blind and continuously uphill 440+ yard beast. You get a nice respite par 3 after that, followed by a terrifyingly narrow and steep downhill blind tee shot only seeing a lake at the bottom. After that? The number one handicap hole (which seemed hardly as daunting to me). But you get the point - this place is wild. Elevations and narrow corridors galore, the oddest sightlines, lots of barrancas/native areas jumping out in the middle of fairways (looking at you hole 14), and even a few water hazards to really give you a thrill. If it weren't for the lovely local couple that played with us, we would not have had a clue where to hit on at least half or more of the holes at GA. And even with them it was still a challenge, especially if your tee shots were off. Did I mention it was wild? Greens are also another treacherous experience at Glen Annie with super fast speeds (which from looking at them you would have never expected), severe slopes, brutal pin placements and a general maze-like quality every time you're squatting down to find your line. One could definitely say the greens (and even the course overall) are quite 'quirky.' But you can also say that it's a fun challenge. Fairways and rough were just a bit above 'good.' Most certainly well playable but also a lot of dry spots (where drainage is good) and some muddy areas after recent rains (where drainage is not). The bunkers weren't great either, mostly quite thin and just looked a bit unkempt. Tee boxes were also weathered a bit, but functional and mostly flat. I was too busy trying to figure out where I was aiming on most tee boxes to notice too much about the tee boxes themselves. But I must say where the green areas were in bloom, the scenes were quite majestic. View of the course from the clubhouse and grill are pretty alluring indeed. POP was mostly okay but think others were just getting as lost on many holes and searching for balls as we were. I don't think a fast POP here is the goal, but it was manageable. We had cart service as well multiple times so that was great on what turned out to be a gorgeous pre-spring day. So would I come back here? Well, in truth I shot a score that requires my return, but I most likely would have anyway just to give it a shot with even a tiny bit of foresight into the course's challenging design. It's a unique place without a doubt - for better or for worse.

Played a rare for me mid-afternoon round in warmer than predicted temperatures. Although it has been seven years since I last played here, I thought I would have better recollection of the course. Honestly, I remembered very few of the holes, and local knowledge certainly would have helped. While I enjoyed the course more than I expected, I am spoiled and not used to playing in the afternoon, with warm temperatures and a 4+ hour pace, which is my excuse for my poor performance.

Staff was great, getting us out early. Course conditions were just so-so. Fairways had decent coverage but were dry and brown from the lack of water. Greens were much slower than they appeared and really need to be rolled. The sand in the bunkers was hard and "crusty". Quite a few tee boxes were beat up badly.

If I lived closer, I would play here occassionally, but being such a long drive from Coto, I suspect it will be several years before I return, so doubt I will remember the course the next time I visit.

Played yesterday morning with buddies. Always enjoy playing Glen Annie. The weather was in the low 70s, the views gorgeous and being an 805 senior member, the rate not bad. First, the greens were on the medium side. They were a little slow in the morning dew, but sped up as the day got warmer. They punched the greens about 12, 13 days ago, so in another week they should be pristine. The fairways were in good shape. The bunkers are more dirt than sand but, consistent. The tee boxes needed mowing but, I believe they want the root system to expand a bit. The pace of play was just under 4 hours. I’ve heard from some that think this course can be a little quirky. I think it’s a very fun course to play. I always seem to play the tenth hole over par. The lies are uneven and that hole just doesn’t suit my eye. The rest of the course is very getable. The staff very friendly. I drive from Santa Clarita, so coming up the 126 early in the morning, stopping at Anna’s Bakery for coffee and a danish with friends, how can you not have a great day.

Played on Friday, 6/4, with a 11:20 tee time and joined itslikeimsayin on a GolfMoose deal for $50 with replay. Unfortunately due to the 5 hour round, the replay was out of the question by the time we made the turn. I arrived early and enjoyed an incredible breakfast burrito while overlooking the beautiful 9th green area.

Course plays better than it looks. The Bermuda fairways are coming back, with spots of tan and green. Bunkers had some light fluffy sand. Greens were faster than they appeared and ran pretty smooth. Rough was variable, but most thin and just above fairway length.

Like Mark, I want to like this course more than I did. I keep describing it as quirky. There's way too many blind shots that if you don't know where the group in front of you is at, you're hitting it over their heads or worse. There are some beautiful views and some fun holes, but you definitely need a few rounds or a local to know where to hit it.

Played here Friday, 6/4 with an 11:24 tee time along with rob1563. We used the GolfMoose certificate that is good for two players after 11:00 and includes a free replay. We started a few minutes early but pace was pretty pathetic, taking just short of 5 hours to finish 18 holes. With lots of people still headed to the first tee and no chance of finishing another 18, we both decided to forgo the second round. Still a decent value at $50 pp for a Friday.

Conditions are mixed, with the course playing better than it looks. There are lots of browned out areas and an overall scruffy appearance, but it played pretty good. Greens are probably the highlight. They were medium fast to fast and mostly smooth. They were inconsistent on accepting full shots. Some stopped quickly and others released. Be careful on downhill putts; they can get away from you quickly. Fairways are semi-dormant with mostly consistent, but thin, coverage. Rough was just a little longer and a little clumpier in most places, and then a few spots had deeper rough if you were on side slopes or further offline. We played the combo tees, so a mix of white and blue. They were pretty good, although the 3rd tee was so rock hard I had to try about five spots before I could even get a tee in the ground. Fortunately, I wasn’t in any bunkers but if reports from the others in our group were accurate, they were in pretty terrible condition, basically like playing off hardpan.

First time ever playing here. For some reason I didn’t expect this course to be so demanding. It opens with a really challenging 400+, significantly uphill par 4. Many holes seem to fall off on the edges of the fairway so offline shots are exacerbated. It offers some faraway ocean views in many spots, which is cool. The par-4 3rd is really funky, playing significantly downhill and offering a blind tee shot through a narrow chute to the fairway. The 12th on the back is somewhat similar. There are lots of elevation changes. Overall, I wanted to like it more than I did. The aesthetics could be spectacular out here, but right now the course isn’t in quite good enough condition to really make that happen.

I played Glen Annie for the first time late Sunday morning in a GK match. We chose Glen Annie for the match as it is a GK supporter. Mike and Steve had played here a number of times before so they helped guide me around the course. The course is located just south of Santa Barbara and sits up on a hill about a mile or two from the ocean.

Course offers plenty of wide open views of the ocean and Channel Islands throughout the track. The pro shop is closed off and check in is via a walk up window. The grill did offer take out food and there was a nice patio area for sitting and eating/drinking after the round if you so choose. I took my food to go after the round to get back on the road.

Layout isn’t as tight as I expected. That or I just had an above average day as I finished with the same ball I started with. Having said that, there is room for error by hitting the adjacent fairways. Don’t get me wrong, there are enough trees and native area to wreak havoc on stray shots. Almost every hole has some sort of elevation change. I can only remember two holes that were flat.

It starts with a bugger of a long 400+ yard uphill par 4. You then wind up and down the side of the hill on mainly straight forward holes for the front nine. The back nine gets a bit more tricky with sever dog legs, risk/reward options off the tee etc.

The greens! Where do I start. Difficult and almost a bit gimmicky. Most of the greens have SEVERE slope to them. I’m not the one to know the answer but it seemed like some of the pin locations would be illegal for tournament play. I could be wrong and it’s not a sour grapes thing as I only had 33 putts but we all experienced some downhill putts that were just flat out impossible to stop within 3’ of the hole.

As for the conditions of the greens, no issue there. They rolled smooth at a medium-fast pace. Naturally, uphill putts were much slower on the steep inclines and downhill putts were super fast.

Fairways weren’t too bad. Definitely, in winter condition. Part green, part brown, some thin areas, some lush areas. All areas playable.

Tee boxes were a step or two below the fairways. A bit chewed up on a number of them.
Sand traps were unplayable. Due to the recent heavy rain, all of the traps had standing water and deep mud.

I enjoyed the track and glad I got a chance to play it. Knowing they are a GK supporter, I’m twice as happy we chose to play here.
