Played 12/31/10 and had a 7:00 t-time. This course chould not have been open!!!!! When I asked the starter if we would be under a frost delay she said no like I was nuts. The fairways had standing water/ice on most of them. The greens had what at first you thought hundreds of ball marks on them, which turned out to be ICE that built up on the bottem of you shoe. Five to sever marks every you put your foot down on the green. The rough and fairways looked liked they had not been cut for a week yet it had not rained for two days. So if you hit a ball off line you had a hell of a time finding it, so it took 5 hrs. to play at 7:00 in the morning! I like this course, but shame on them for having it open.

Played on Thanksgiving day, Nov.25. Many five some today. not many people due to Turkey Holiday. Greens were bumpy but fair. Hole #12 par 3 green, more than half of the green were under repair with new patches of turf. Front 9 holes pace were slow but as always Back 9 were good pace. Total playing time was around 5 hours. Besides my score it was a good golfing day and enjoyed the course.

First out of the gates, wet and dark, surprisingly fast greens in the morning. I found them to be true and rolled nicely. Only a couple of the greens had ball mark catastrophe, what happened? It was like there were too many to fix, so everyone just gave up. Course is fair, but your driver has to be in tune, as there are many tree lined fairways ready to get in your way. A few rounds here and you will figure out which side to aim at to avoid the large trees that could get in the way for your approach shot. Or ask Dave to play.
Sand traps were well stocked, but the sand was wet and heavy, not unexpected that early. Pace of play was perfect, well obviously for us, but I didn't see anyone waiting anywhere on the course. $40 to walk on Friday.

Despite the realative low number of people laying, it still took five hours to complete. WHY? i guess all it takes is one or two groups to slow it down for everyone! The course was actually not in very good condition - truth be known, it was probably in a poor condition as I've seen it. (I only play here every couple of years) I don't recall there being so many bare areas in the fairways before? Also noticed how short the rough was, which is generally one of the most difficult features of Eldo. The only positive I can say is we teed off exactly on time, which was a pleasant surprise.

I caddied (at) the Long Beach Golf Open on 7-29-10: Someone recently posted the following quote "It's beautiful right now for the LBC open." I TOTALLY disagree! I was very disappointed with the overall conditions! I've caddied my share of PRO tournaments and qualifiers...Yes, it's a public golf course but I've seen other greens in much better condition...PLEASE read my honest opinion.

I TOTALLY agree with the following quote: "You must keep the ball on the fairway on this course as the rough and the trees are VERY penalizing."
You MUST find the fairway otherwise it will be extremely difficult to save PAR when playing from the rough through the thick combination of trees.

This is a course you need to play a few times to know where the places you can get away with an errant tee shot. Most of the sprinkler heads are marked for yardages along with the traditional BLUE / WHITE / RED yardage markers placed just off the fairway in the rough.

I enjoy the layout, I've played this layout many times as a player. Many holes you have to shape your shot to fit the layout of the hole. However I did not enjoy the conditions for the LB OPEN! Way too many areas in the fairway have actual brown & bare spots "no grass" which are very THIN lies. I know we are in drought conditions but looks like the water allotment should have been made more concentrated on the fairways!

The sand bunkers looked soft & fluffy but underneath were like concrete so hitting out of them causes inconsistent or unexpected shots.

The greens were so inconsistent! They ranged from being very hard to being soft when hitting approach shots. EX: Hole #1 front portion of green is soft, middle to the back is extremely hard. THREE different approach shots reacted so differently from inside 130 yards.

Some pitch/chip shots would check up while many others would run forever. You try to adjust your game but every hole was different than the previous. I observed other participants experiencing similar conditions when we were waiting on certain tee boxes you could see their shots land hard/soft on the greens. We had an early tee time, there were WAY TOO many ball marks still had not healed properly (from previous rounds) because people failed miserably to properly fix their ball mark which lead to bumpy greens!

The practice tee actual separates the two nines (placed between hole HOLE#1 & HOLE #10), grass and mats are used, there are two putting greens to choose from and a so-so pitch/chip area.

Easily a walkable course. It's beautiful right now for the LBC open. You must keep the ball on the fairway on this course as the rough and the trees are VERY penalizing. Out of the several LBC courses, this is my favorite with REC 18 right behind. The people that play here actually fix their marks and respect the course.

The tall guy in the pro shop is a jerk...but most of the other guys are cool. You won't see a marshall here but pace is generally under 5. You can usually get a decent walking price on golfnow.

No need for driver on #1. Hit a draw hyrbid and leave yourself 135 in to a sever sloping back to front green. Stay below the hole for birdie!!! If above, putt and pray! That'll get your round started right.

Played with Swing18 and RobStretch. Pace of play was fast. Ran though crouse in under 4 hours. They are gearing up for Long Beach Festival later this week so conditions are great. Greens a little bumpy but I suspect they are letting the greens grow and cut them down for Festival. Fairways in great shape -- no thin lies. Sand in bunkers are good and well stocked. Tee Boxes are flat with good use of rotating tee boxes. You can tell they take pride in their course by the maintenance they throw into the course. Pace of play as I said for a Monday was sizzling fast. I recommend this course and all Long Beach Courses at this time. Great place to play especially early in the week.

Played 7-1 at 630am with jfuzz. Teamed up with 2 singles. Behind the dreaded 5some. Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were a little slow. Minimal amount of unrepaired ball marks. Looks like they put new sand in the bunkers as it was very soft and made for a few fried egg lies in our group. #3 tee box was uneven but the rest were ok. I like the course and will be back.
