Found what must've been a cancellation for 1:40 today on Friday and nabbed a twosome. I was joined by GK'er Arb for a fun round. Simple check-in, groups were being called over the loudspeaker to the first tee, and a course ambassador then sat on the first tee to ensure you sign for your cart and send you off. We started right on time and pace was great. Only minimal waits all day, and pace was just under 4.5 hrs. Beautiful day with blue skies and a slightly cool breeze.

Conditions are good. Greens are mostly smooth (a little wobbly in spots), medium speed and inconsistent firmness – some held full shots and others bounced and rolled through. Grain toward the ocean seemed to make inland facing putts especially slow. I over-read the breaks in the greens all day. Didn't seem like they broke as much as the practice green. Fairways have good coverage and provided good lies. Rough was a little longer in most spots and clumpier in places, less consistent conditions. Blue tee boxes had good coverage, quite a few divots and were a bit lumpy underfoot. I was in several bunkers and they were mostly good, not great. Also, a few had the dreaded unraked footprints. Hey people – rake the traps!

I hadn't played here since 2015 and not sure I'd ever played here in the afternoon. Snagging that tee time felt like winning the lottery. Hopefully I get back before another 7 years passes. Definitely recommended.

Played Los Verdes this morning and didn’t really see a whole lot of people playing. Before I get to the review number 9 is playing as a temporary green while they do some sort of maintenance and while they’re at it they should put red stakes just to the right of the as tee shots are constantly making their way down through the trees and roots and such but that’s my 2 cents. The cat on hole is also doing fine. As for the course the tee boxes are mostly level and they recently cut the fairways so it seems like the ball was rolling out more and they seemed a little more firmer. Bunkers had plenty of sand and easy to play from but was only in 2 on hole 2 and on 10. Greens as always seem to roll firm and quick. Our ace of play was exactly 4 hours with 3 riders and 1 walker. The course is always great to play because of the design and it’s fairly generous and it the views are always great. Definitely recommended..

Got in a Friday round back at Los Verdes for the first time in a while and it was worth every penny. Was quite surprised checking in late on Thursday to find an ideal tee time for two online that actually worked out. We walked playing the blue tees for a great $45 deal for the best views in LA. First and foremost, want to mention what a tremendous difference playing this course in under six hours makes. We actually moved pretty quickly all afternoon with minimal waits (only annoying part was when the group in front of us picked up my buddy's ball on 11 after he drove just left of the green) and finished in around four hours and thirty minutes. That's tremendous for Los Verdes and simply makes it a must-play. The greens were stupendous. Fast, smooth and really challenging from all angles. The sloped green on the fifth hole is a three-putt waiting to happen every time. And yet despite being so quick, they actually held shots very well and were simply a joy to play. The fairways are in good, not great shape but that's okay for how much traffic this course gets. Rough can definitely be challenging mayhem, but not because of its length, but instead the varying terrain. Bunkers were just okay and the tee boxes were definitely showing some of that wear and tear but were all mostly level and playable. We were lucky to catch Los Verdes on a picture perfect late winter day with warm temperatures and cool breezes with clear skies all the way to Santa Barbara island. It's definitely a tough-ish walking course but you'll get there with some of the elevations making you work a bit. Just a super fun day on a challenging course that is one of the best bargains in the land when you catch it on the right day.

Played Los Verdes on Wed March 9 at 10:20. Beautiful day for golf on such an amazing piece of land. Hard to believe these views are available on a muni, but it is SoCal. Course conditions were very good for the most part. Seems that they sanded the greens a bit, but it really did not affect the line and most putts were very fast, leading to many 3-putts in our group. No punching fwiw. Fairways were mostly green and mostly lush. Fairly windy most of the day so that's another factor that makes the course challenging. Pace of play was very good, very rarely saw the group in front or behind, and finished just over 4 hours which isn't bad for mid-morning on a busy course. If you can find a tee time, I will almost always recommend Los Verdes and right now when the weather is good, it's a must-play.

Played early on Sunday, 12/4, around 7:00 am. Cold wet morning. Fog on the way up the hill but none on the course. No amenities open that early although the coffee shop was open as we made the turn. POP continues to be very good as we came in at almost exactly 4 hours.

The course is in decent shape still after an outstanding autumn for conditions. It could use some rain. There are some bare spots in the fairways although I avoided them. The rough it hit or miss. The grass has come in nicely on some areas such as left on 2 and right on 8. They are also adding mulch in some dirt areas such as left on 1. The greens were interesting. The course did not aerate them this Fall and they are very firm. They roll well but there are some possible fungus areas where they do not look as good as they did. They also were slower than usual, medium speed, but it was a wet morning so that might have been the reason. No complaints about them.

Overall, the course is doing a good job on conditioning. Recommended.

Took a chance to try Los Verdes without a tee time. I thought that the threat of rain would keep the people away, and I guessed correctly. No problem getting out. I was concerned about back nine play, but not an issue today. The staff here is always great. Very friendly and accommodating.

Course is in nice shape right now, particularly the greens. Rolled true, reasonably quick, and receptive. Good coverage in the fairways. Found a few bunkers, most had well maintained sand.

Still the best value in golf ! As long as you get out early and avoid the 5+ hour rounds, this is the most bang for your buck you can get in Southern California.

This was my 3rd time playing Los Verdes and it was by far the best conditions I've seen. We teed off at 140pm and the sun was shining (I played in the morning the previous two times and it was overcast the whole round). One of the best public tracks in LA County hands down. You really can't beat the price of $48 to walk. After I scored a twilight tee time, I saw the aerification warning on the GK site. I called the shop and they said that they decided to skip this season's punching :) After playing, I can see why. The greens were almost perfect. Rolled fast and true. Fairways had excellent coverage with tee boxes not being an issue at all. I was in a couple bunkers and there was plenty of decent sand. It's not an easy course but not the most difficult either. Highly recommended if you can get on. See photos for the epic views.

Played a twilight nine at Los Verdes on Wednesday, joining three friends with a 5:30pm tee time and getting through nine holes before adding two more when it got too dark to play.

Obviously review only covers the front nine but assume most course conditions are consistent. Greens definitely the best part of the course right now. Not as fast as they always seem to have been before, but still quicker and trickier than your average Muni. Held shots well though but very tough to get the speeds down with longer lag putts.

Fairways were in decent shape but definitely some thin lies out there right now. Also found the rough to be quite thin and found lots of dirt areas just off the fairways right now. Tee boxes (we played the white tees) were in workable shape, but the bunkers were a bit on the thin/grainy side.

I'm not sure what effect our late tee time had on course conditions, but I've definitely seen Los Verdes in better shape. Still, for the great price and fantastic views you get here while playing, it's always worth the money and the drive. The only negative here is usually the POP, but we did not have to worry much about that last night.

I'm looking forward to another full 18 here sooner rather than later.

We still played in a decent time, as it seems players have gotten better over the last year in not clogging up the course. And I was not in a hurry to get back to the heat. I agree with his posting, though I was in one bunker and it was very playable. The GM Bob and Asst GM Chris have done an amazing job here over the years. Great course, location and Sr price to play golf in S CA. I also like all the clearing of trees, shrubs, etc they have done on the course.
