Played in a tourney on 7/3. This is my home course and it's first time playing in well over a year.

I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course. Fairways in good shape, sand was in good shape, the rough not terribly penal. I noticed a few trees were removed, most noticeably, the bush/tree to the left on Hole 7 has been removed exposing the tee box on Hole 8. I think a nice improvement.

I was disappointed in the greens. They were markedly slower than I'm used to here. I kept leaving putts 4-5 feet short.

Overall, it was great to get back out here and play Los Verdes again.

Played Los Verdes on a cold and breezy Sunday morning. Played with Vince, Chris and Dan. As mentioned in earlier reviews both chipping and putting areas are open as well as the restaurant and bar. We played in a little over 4 1/2 hours and never waited on any shots. The course is good shape now, fairways are good tee boxes well maintained and very few divots on the par 3’s. Still no sand on carts but rakes are back in the sand traps. Greens are usually the star of the show but they are a little slower than usual some roll better than others. Still only foursomes but it’s just a matter of time before they allow fivesomes. I always enjoy playing here when I get the chance the views of the ocean and the beautiful homes are great. Definitely recommended.

Played today in a great POP of 4 H. Even with a 9:15 start. No five's and tee times 10 minutes apart make a big difference. And they were also marshaling the course. Constant wind all round that did not add to the enjoyment. Great customer check in and service from all staff. Tee boxes were all good except for #12. No idea what caused the very very sparse grass coverage. Traps were not really playable IMO. But that has been the lay of the land for the last year in all of S CA. They even put in a local rule that when ball lands in a footprint, free drop within the trap if you are going to play from the trap. Fairways were a mixed bag of good/bad. They had good grass coverage but spring has brought an abundance of what they call "wire grass" throughout the course. So you may hit a good or even great drive and find your ball in one of the many patches of the stuff. So they have put in another local rule. Free drop from the menace. No doubt the poor Super is pulling his hair out working on eliminating this problem (though it might be hard. this stuff has been at L V for years. but never saw it this bad before). They had recently aerated half of the greens (standard practice here). Pins were all placed in non aerated side and the greens were hard and fast. Made for a difficult and challenging day of chipping/putting (lots of expletive deleted words all day). Land on the side that was aerated and while they have healed and are continuing to heal putting was slow. And putting from slow to fast was an even more exciting adventure. And for those of you who have played here for years, you will notice an abundance of tree pruning/removal and brush removal throughout the course. Really opens up the views of the ocean from many more locations than before. Putting greens open (mask required). Range open (mask required). Coffee shop now opens at 8 AM. Always great to play here, regardless of the trials and tribulations one must endure to play golf. I will be back.

What a difference a day makes. After suffering through the frost yesterday at Oceanside, looked forward to much milder conditions "on the ocean". Always a treat to play Los Verdes, probably the best bargain in Southern California.

Conditions were about what I expected. Greens were actually better than expected. Fairways were generally pretty good with some bare areas. Bunkers are typical "Covid" bunkers, unraked and inconsistent. Rough was also a mixed bag.

Hard not to enjoy playing here. Great value on a nice track, with wonderful views. Staff is always friendly, fast, & efficient. So long as you get out early, it's a joy to play here.

Played this AM in a nice 4 H POP. Little cool/windy early on. But warmed up nicely when the sun arrived. Found the course in good shape. Tee boxes were fine. Found the fairways providing decent lies and roll. Traps like most in S CA could use some work (just give us a rake please). Very little rough to speak of. Greens were nice and had good speed for chipping/putting. Excellent customer service at check in. Usual LA Co virus rules in and around the clubhouse/cart areas. Always nice to join friends and get to play here vs having to get a tee time.

Played here for the first time in years today. The course is in decent shape. Greens were fast and had a lot of break. Fairways were decent with some bare spots. Rough is spotty with big clumps of grass but they adopted a local rule to give you relief. Views here are worth the price of admission. Friendly staff. It's a muni but worth the trip if you can get a tee time.

Played Los Verdes today with other men’s club members and we teed of at 12:45 this afternoon. Pre COVID we never would have finished, today we finished at 5:05 pm and we had to wait on maybe a couple of holes. The course is looking good now it’s great to play only 4 instead of the usual fivesomes. Tee boxes for the most part are good and even the par 3’s are looking nice with divots filled in. The fairways are nice and green with a few thin spots but always playable. The course has 2 local new rules or at least new to me, the first is tree root and if interferes with your swing you can move it one club length, and second the “smutgrass” rule, if it interferes with your swing, you can move it one club lengths so that’s good. I was in a few bunkers and the sand plays really nice and lastly the greens. I have played here for decades and the greens are the nicest I have seen them in a long time. In closing, course is in great shape and if you can get the elusive tee time it’s highly recommended and kudos to Chris, Vince and Gus great playing partners today...

It had been a while since I last played Los Verdes, so was happy to return. While not the best conditions, it's always a pleasure to play here. A bit breezy, but not so bad as to cause any real issue. Just nice to be golfing on a January day in my shirtsleeves.

Condition not as good as the last time I played here, although the greens were still very nice. Fairways need some attention. Maybe the rain which is forecast will help? In two bunkers, and they were both fine. Some of the tee boxes were not level, but still OK.

What's not to love about Los Verdes, when you can play on the ocean in the dead of winter in your shirtsleeves for about $20. Best value in Southern California.

Played Sunday, 1/17 before 7:00. Warm Santa Ana morning with a breeze blowing west. The smog was piling up on Catalina but we could see at least one of the islands to the northwest. POP was outstanding at 3.5 hours. The course conditions were a little ragged. The fairways looked like they had not been mowed with clumps of grass sticking up from the generally dry turf. The rough was rough. A lot of dirt out there. The bunkers were in good shape. They had someone raking them on the front. Unfortunately I was undermining much of that work as I played out of the sand quite a bit. The greens have been outstanding lately but they were merely good. Still firm and fast, there were some bumps out there. Not so one had to worry on short putts; they were just not perfect. Overall, a nice summer day in January. Tough to complain too much about the conditions. Not perfect but still the best deal in golf.
