First off this morning 3 H POP. I first noticed that the fairways have some "golden" grass in most of them. So either water is not reaching, or the hot weather is setting in on the grass? Today it did not hamper lies, but who knows as summer creeps in? Tee boxes were all fine. Very little rough but enough OB, small canyons and water to make up for that. Fairways did provide good lies and roll all round. Bunkers were all clean and playable. Felt bad being in one w/o a rake. Greens were just fine. Chipped/putted well and held shots very nicely. The have installed a J device that you lift with your putter to take ball out of cup. Nice touch as it does not affect the ball at all and you can let the ball go into the cup vs other strange arrangements on various courses. Range is still closed. Snack bar food to go only. Bring your own water/beverage. Masks in and around pro shop. OK to remove on the course. Customer service excellent at all levels. Still think the Sr price is too high IMO.

We played this morning as first off and done in 3 H. Course is opening at 6:30 and not letting players out until 7? No explanation other than that was what they were told by management? And senior rates have gone to $60. No golf/cart/range/bkfst-lunch special is available. Found the course to be in excellent shape. Greens that were mentioned as aerated in prior posts, have healed nicely. Tee boxes all fine. Fairways are not as lush/robust as one would think, after weeks of no play. But they are green and provide good lies (some thin) and good roll. Playing early you get good bunkers and they were playable. Greens had very good speed and all in great shape (even # 15 which was in trouble for a long time). Rough was thick/penal and OB areas are all overgrown and no chance of finding your ball. Water hazards are all filled and come into play much more than previous times. Customer service great at all levels. No driving range at present. Pins are in with inverted cups. Carts are clean and GPS working just fine. Place is packed.

Always look forward to playing Coyote Hills, as the staff in the pro shop are friendly and accommodating. Using the senior rate makes this course well worth playing. Generally play fairly well here,... Continue »

Always look forward to playing Coyote Hills, as the staff in the pro shop are friendly and accommodating. Using the senior rate makes this course well worth playing. Generally play fairly well here, perhaps in part because the course is not overly long, but you still have to keep your ball in play, otherwise the score can balloon quickly. Also love the views ! This course has several super fun holes to play and provide a number of good birdie opportunities.

Condition was about what I expected and consistent with the prior reviews. Fairways somewhat on the thin side, which was great for the drives, but makes hitting those irons very precise. Greens rolled well, quicker than expected. Only in two bunkers - both had sand which was well raked.

I always leave this course satisfied. Just a fun, reasonably priced round of golf, with enough challenge to keep your interest, but still affords the opportunity to put up a good score.

Played here early afternoon after work, got a good deal off a discount site. Course is short but tricky, as the landing areas are generally tight and the fairways are thin and dormant causing a lot of roll especially on downhill holes. I hit two 3 woods over 300 yards which has never happened before.(I managed to bogey both holes smh) no need for driver on most. Check in was fine but the starter was a grumpy old codger. Starter/range shack is usually not the friendliest in my experience. Tees had lots of bare spots and a few were domed. Not in good shape. Fairways were super thin as mentioned, better be good at hitting your irons ball first. No real rough to speak of, so need to be on line or you'll roll off into the ESA. Greenside bunkers had a fair smount of sand that was easy to play from. Many fringes and collars are dyed/spray painted. Greens were quick and had a lot of slope, don't be above the hole. A lot of ball marks though. Was waiting on an approach and the marshall and I had a long convo where he ranted about how people never fix divots and ball marks. 15 green still sucks, not sure if it will ever improve. Pop was slow, about 4 1/2. Worth what I paid, any more I'd wait for the course to 'lush up' a bit.

Played this AM. First out no POP issues. Found the tee boxes to all be fine. Traps looked fine and heard no complaints. Some of the bermuda rough around the greens is very dry and the ball will disappear, calling on good chipping skills. Fairways are green but not lush. They do provide good roll out and good lies. But hitting from thin fairways is crucial for good results. All the greens (though wet at the start) were in great shape (except 15 more later) and chipped/putted just fine and had good speed. # 15 green is still not looking good IMO. I hope they can fix it? Customer service excellent at all levels. They are running a S B special for those interested. Call the pro shop.

Caught an amazing "Deal" time rate on TeeOff.com for Sunday, 1/5 at 11:50 where it came to only $42 after the 25% off promo code. I hadn't played here in many years (since '97 to be exact), so I was happy to finally return. Got paired with three fun guys. POP was a little slow, but not too bad for a weekend in Orange County. We waited on nearly every shot and finished in about 4:45. Oddly, the whole clubhouse except for the cart barn seemed to be locked up already when we finished. Nice carts with GPS and USB ports (although too many ads/announcements on the GPS that required multiple taps to "Return to Golf" for my taste.) Conditions are winter-y but good. Dormant fairways are thin but sufficient and pretty convincingly dyed green (I'm pretty sure they're dyed; I'm positive some collars were dyed.). Rough is practically the same height as the fairway, just not dyed. So with so much ESA on this course, there's nothing to really stop your ball from trickling out of play. Greens were a bit inconsistent. None were bad, but some were definitely better than others. Mostly ran medium-fast to fast; you had to be careful with downhillers or they could easily get away from you. They were pretty soft and accepted full shots well. Smooth except for some of the lesser conditioned ones that had patchier grass in spots and showed ball mark damage. Gold tee boxes also inconsistent... some were really nice, others needed some attention. The bunkers I was in were good. I'm usually pretty good at remembering layouts, but having not played here since 1997, I had forgotten much of the course and also remembered some things differently. I didn't remember the back nine at all, but there are some pretty good/fun holes back there. It definitely helped that the guys I played with had just played there a couple weeks ago and were able to give me some tips on where certain holes went, etc. Gotta love the severely downhill holes like 3, 7, 9 and 17. Oddly I remembered No. 1 being significantly uphill and thought No. 5 used to be much more uphill, too. Neither one really is. It's a fun course but a little too tight for me to want to play it too often. If I can land another deal like I got today, I'll definitely head back out there, though.

Played this AM as 2nd off. Done in 3 H. Course is in good shape presently. I found no issues with tee boxes. Fairways are dry and in good shape, with nice roll out, lies are not lush. But a good fairway wood/hybrid will get you great distance. Traps were playable with no issues. Rough and OB are evident and can cause issues. Greens were in great shape, chipped/putted well and had good speed. Even the green on # 15 is looking better (but I still saw some issues on the fringe). Customer service excellent at all levels. The senior special that includes golf, cart, range balls and breakfast/lunch is a good deal, IMO.
