Staff was friendly and welcoming. The bathrooms/locker rooms were pretty gross though; no detail needed here.

Range:
Did not use the range but it appeared to be mats on this morning. There was a small practice green where I rolled a few putts but it was hard to get a feel since it was covered in the morning's trimmings.

Greens:
The greens were all over the place. Some quick, some slow and most really slow. One of the greens was so bad it was un-puttable (picture included). The only consistency of the greens was that they were some of the softest I have ever played; we had about 4 embedded balls on the green. Overall the greens rolled decently true but because they were so soft, if anyone ahead of us happened to walk in your intended line there were very deep impressions. We joked it was easier to play on punched greens but they had to keep them wet due to how much heat we have been getting in socal these past few weeks.

Fairways:
The fairways were very firm and even getting steep on wedges it was hard to take a decent divot. It felt like clubs were bouncing off the ground.
Some collection areas were completely soaked with standing water and were soggy.

Bunkers:
Poor bunkers...They were decently groomed but very thin. They looked like they would play well but you couldn't do anything with an open face as it would just bounce. It almost felt backwards as the fairway bunkers were noticeably softer than the greenside ones.

Tee Boxes:
Pretty bare but fairly even. Some of the tee boxes had decent coverage but you were forced to tee off on a less than ideal line.

Rough:
The depth of the rough off the fairways was probably 1 inch or so. Some of the greenside rough was 2-3" and very penal.

Overall:
Course was a pretty fun layout but 100% not worth the money for the condition it was in. Definitely a short course as I used irons off of most tees with a driver only on 2 holes due to length constraints. Definitely a challenging course and a fun for working on irons late in an afternoon, but definitely not a weekend course. I would have been disappointed with this place if I paid $50 to play it, but at the rate of $95 on a weekend our foursome was tempted to go complain about how poor the conditions were. If you have to pay more than $50 to play here, totally avoid it.

Played this course for the first time Sunday Morning with mpisarski dpisarski and my girlfriend. Was pretty excited to play this course as I have heard nothing but good things. Pace of play for a Sunday was pretty good, finished in 4:15 min. I liked the layout of the course, perfect for me to always hit a 4 iron on all tee shots, at least I know where it will end up (unlike my driver). Overall a pretty short course, nice views. The tee boxes on the par 3's were a disaster, hard ground, hardly any grass, broke a couple tee's just trying to get the tee in the ground. The greens were in pretty decent shape, still really bumpy and #15 was the worst green out of all of them. Chewed up, missing grass in some area's, not evenly cut. Overall if the course was in better shape I would give it a 3.5/5, Matt got us on for a discounted price, but paying full price for this on a weekend would be a no go for me. I would play here again later in the year, but right now the course needs some work.

I played from the blue tees today. The course is in fairly good shape it is however not up to the level I played it on many years ago. I was not impressed with the practice area as the practice green was bumpy and very spotty with bare spots. The course is fun with many blind Tee shots. Some of the elevated tee boxes offer great views of Orange County. The greens were beat up by the groups in front of us with several ball marks. I did find several traps that ranged from hard pan to very deep and fluffy. This course could be so much more than it showed us today. I would play again hoping it lives up to its reputation.

First time at Coyote Hills after hearing about it for so long, being a top OC course my expectations were high. In all honesty I was let down now dont get me wrong this is still a fun course, I just had high hopes for better conditions.

Starting with the tee boxes, the par threes were annihilated and had lots of divots with no where to tee it up. Fairways had good coverage with a few different types of grass on some but the offered a great roll and a somewhat decent lie. Rough was a mixed bag but not bad for the most part especially around the greens. Now for the bad. The sand that I was in was terrible all firm with weeds growing out of them, my playing partners were a little more lucky as a few had some sand. Greens were soft and very very bumpy. I would like to blame the morning group for the bumps but it was more the grass itself. I think if they firm up the greens it would play smoother but obviously bring in the issues surrounding the greens.

The layout is great other than it is short and not being able to hit driver on half the holes is strange to me. If a good deal is found I would still return but only if no other deals are out there.

Played Coyote Hills with my monthly neighborhood group on 6/11. Had a 10:20 tee time on a rather warm day but we had plenty of water and snacks to make it through. This is only my third time playing here and the other two times were scramble tournaments so this is the first time playing my own ball throughout. Check-in was a little hassle. They were training a new person who was struggling to get the green fee correct. She charged me the premium rate of $75. I mentioned I was a senior and she had to correct the computer again. She charged me $56 where I mentioned I thought the senior rate was $50. No response so the more seasoned starter indicated that the $56 rate includes lunch and a drink. Wasn’t looking to have lunch after but didn’t want to go through this check-in hassle any further so I just paid it and walked on. The course is in good condition with a couple of flaws. The fairways looked like many have been aerated a while ago but haven’t fully recovered. Not terrible but pretty thin so not at their best. I imagine they will be better in the upcoming months. Bunkers were hit and miss. One was perfect and yet another I was in was rock hard. The rough was in good shape and cut just about right. The greens are excellent. Smooth, rolling fast, holding shots and in some cases provided back spin if it well. Very nice. Despite the heat, I enjoyed playing here. Finished in in just under 4 hours. The cart associate came by a couple times so we were not without refreshments. A pretty hilly course with many elevation changes from the tee boxes. It plays relatively short and there are a few holes that do not require hitting a driver. We played it from the blues which is only around 5,600 yards but just because it’s a bit short doesn’t make it easy. Target golf on some holes so if do hit driver, don’t spray it. Recommend and looking forward to the next time.

Having just played here last month I would normally not return so quickly, but received an invite from a friend and because I enjoy the course so much, Why Not ! Not a lot to add to my prior review. Course has held up well to the recent mini heat wave, Everything green and lush. Greens rolling much faster now than previously.

The staff here is always so friendly and the setting is just beautiful. The course just presents as a private club, very relaxing, tranquil. Well priced, at last for seniors. If you have not played here, I highly recommend it.

Played Friday super twilight round teeing off around 4:40. Paired with another single. Not much to add from the previous reviews. Fairways are tight and ball runs out - choose your clubs accordingly. Greens were ok - a bit bumpy and lots of spike marks. Tough to rate them that late in the day after all the play. Was able to get in 16 holes, playing 1-7 then going back to #1 and completing all 9.
Check in was easy and everyone at course was very nice. I've played here a few times now and I like it more each time.

Played today. POP 3 H. Like Weber yesterday, we were the 1st off. Unlike Weber, we had no maintenance in front of us on the front. We came upon it on the back, but never an issue and were rewarded with great putting services. So the only issues we encountered where wet conditions (front only and dry on back). But the fairways rolled well (as previously stated) and they got better as they dried out. The greens (front only) were slow due to wetness (but you could just fire at the flags, which was fun). Unlike yesterday the bunkers today were fine, as they had all been raked early AM. Was in one and found no problems. As Weber stated "play the correct tees/drive the ball well", which I did today and yes I was rewarded with a great round. Customer service excellent at all levels. Fortunately for me, the course is close to my home and I love playing here (joined the Players club, so costs are less per round). One thing I did notice was that # 15 green was looking much better today, than in the past? So perhaps they are making good progress? But it is for sure, different grass from the rest of the course? And it seems to play much slower?

First out on a cool spring morning at 5:30am. No other golfers around, but had a lot of maintenance to deal with on the first 7 holes. (mowing, changing pins, spraying & watering, so no pins on several holes) Once we were past maintenance it was glorious. A beautiful clear day!

I thought the course was in very nice condition. Those greens which were mowed rolled very nicely, the half dozen uncut greens, not so well. Much faster then they appeared, at least the ball seemed to roll out beyond what you'd think. Fairways were very "tight" which is great for good players. It provided additional roll, but required a more accurate contact with little forgiveness. Bunkers were a mix of good/bad.

I find Coyote one of the most fun courses to play because it so pretty, offers wonderful vistas, nice mix of holes, none parallel. A challenge at times, but doesn't ask you to do the impossible. If you play the correct tees and can drive the ball well, this course can be had.

Staff was perfect ! Wish it were closer to home and a little cheaper to play.
