I ran a super event yesterday with help from rgm2525 and sparky14 at Los Coyotes CC 1-26-2026. We played the recently reopened Lake Nine + Valley Nine combo. The course was in terrific shape and the club did an excellent job hosting our event of 129 players. Prior to play we did a Vivid Golf putting contest for a Free Vivid Golf Performance Pole with a record 17 winners! Man that was fun :)

I love running events here. It’s so easy and it’s great to have 3 nines to choose from. Most of our events have been on the Valley/Vista combo. I’m now going to add the Lake Nine to the combo altering combos moving forward. It might be fun to try the Lake/Vista combo for our next event.

The course was very lush with the greens running medium/fast and smooth. The new sand in the bunkers had a heavy texture which took a little getting used to, but I loved how the ball never plugged – can you tell I hit into a lot of bunkers? – LOL

What a fantastic day yesterday at the outing. Perfect weather and perfectly run/organized event. Very cool course, too!! Those greens were absolutely insane, very fast and almost impossible with downhill or side hill putts. They held shots well and we had a few bump off line, but for the most part it was entertaining, to say the least. I putted off the green three times!!! Hole 8 on the Vista was a joke as putts came back down hill a good 5 feet from the hole if you missed, but the rest of them were fun. Everything else about the course was in great shape!! I could easily be a member here. Great layout and convenient location. 3nines is always great, too. Thanks Johnny for taking excellent care of everyone. My entire group was impressed. You know what, I'm going to edit this post and provide a little more detail into the people that were in my group and what an incredible guy Johnny is. My brother is a retired fireman, LA City, he retired in 2024 and was diagnosed with agressive cancer at the same time. He's hanging in there and he was the main reason for this golf outing. Then my BFF of 50yrs (I'm 56 to give you perspective) was with us, obviously he's very close to my older brother as they've known each other that entire time, as well and share the name of Greg. Then the fourth was my brothers fireman comrade, Greg Malais, who got his leg ran over by a fire truck on the job back in 2002 and is an amputee. He fought like hell to get back on the fire task force and proved he could still be as good of a fireman as any able bodied guy, also working his way up to Captain II like my brother. So johnny welcomed them all with open arms and put us in group 1A and we just had a magical day!!! thanks to all.

After a year off in 2024, our Private Club Events returned to Los Coyotes CC this Monday, 8/4 … what a fantastic event!

What made it even better is I’m getting to see and catch up with GKers I have not seen in years. That means a lot to me.

It was super teeing it up with mcantos, now in Honolulu but in the OC this time of year. Marvin’s playing 18 holes for 18 bucks with his local rate on Oahu … not bad! LOL - welcome back to SoCal.

Other GKers I happened to see, aakers, defisher and jerry64.

I really enjoy organizing outings at Los Coyotes CC not only because it’s a fun, challenging track kept in great shape, but also because it has one of the best event staging areas of the courses hosting our 100+ player private course events. There is so much space to keep everything organized, your players together and give them a big Country Club ambiance. All amenities for players are easily accessible, driving range, practice putting, proshop, bathrooms, snack bar, cart barn, etc.

If you’re considering booking a golf outing at Los Coyotes CC, I’ve worked with Selina Cothran for many years and she’s terrific. Her and her events staff did another super job with our golf event.

It is always a pleasure playing with rgm2525 and sparky14 who worked at the check-in Vivid Golf tent while I ran the Putting Skill Challenge and did Media. We had our hands full, and it felt good to get out on the course afterwards.

As far as playing conditions, the greens were medium/fast, held shot and mostly smooth. Fairways were gorgeous bermuda/kikuyu grass making the ball sit up all day. The rough was cut at a player’s manageable 2 to 3 inches, mostly kikuyu turf with sloped stances. Greenside rough is especially not the place to be on this course IMO as I found out due to poor iron play. Bunkers were all in great shape with white, somewhat thick/coarse texture sand. Tee boxes cut tight, level and mostly lush. It’s a very fun tree lined course to hit driver requiring straight, left-to-right and right-to-left shots. This time of year, the bermuda/kikuyu turf provides very little roll out so choose your tee box wisely. We played the Valley/Vista 18 holes combo which I think is the most event friendly combo. The Lake 9 is very fun, but also more narrow/difficult risking slow play. Hole #9 on the Lake nine is probably my favorite of all 27 holes at Los Coyotes CC and regardless not a bad choice.

I highly recommend Los Coyotes CC to play, organize an outing at or consider joining.

Had a chance to play Los Coyotes Vivid/GK outing and was pleasantly surprised when I found out I was paired with Johnny, Ron and Steve, all fantastic golfers but even better human beings. Had not played here in a number of years and the last I played here it was under rainy conditions, today was a little warm but we had a light breeze so it was a beautiful day for golf.
There are 3 9 hole layouts here and we played the valley 9 and vista 9 and I thought the course was in fantastic shape, fairways rolled firm and very little rough to speak of if you strayed, which I did a few times. It is a tree lined course but very playable with generous fairways despite all the trees. Tee boxes were all level and sanded in , bunkers had the nice white compact sand and I was not in any of them and my playing partners had no problems out of them. The greens rolled very true and although, I missed my share of putts, this is a course I could play 3 or 4 times a week when you are rotating the 3 nines. It was nice catching up with John and Ron and meeting Steve my cart mate and chatting it up with him was great. It was an absolute fantastic day , I had a great time and thanks for Steve, John and Ron for all the work they did in setting everything up and a smooth check in , hope to play with you guys soon..

Final round of the month came this Monday 11/27 at Los Coyotes CC for our GM/GK Private Course Event. Played with GKers mark_6m, sparky14 and WizzDum37. Awesome day. The event was set up for the first time combining the Valley and Vista 9’s. As much as I like the Lake nine, the Valley + Vista Combo was better.

It was very impressive to see the course in the best shape I’ve experienced it. Greens ran fast and true. Fairways lush. Rough lush. Tee Boxes lush and Bunkers improved. The layout, especially the Valley nine, is very fun and challenging. Great service and staging area for events. Snack Bar provided complimentary coffee which I found to be a nice touch. I can see why this outing of 100+ players sold out in under a week. I’m in the process of lining up another outing here for 2024.

Played in the Golf Moose outing on 11/27/23. I have played LC a dozen or so times over the last decade, and this was the best I have ever seen it. Greens were perfect, fast and treacherous in spots. Fairways were great. Only very small negative - the low spots in bunkers could use a bit more sand as I did hit the deck on a couple of shots. But generally, bunkers were nice as well - just a case of people raking away from the bottom rather than pushing sand into it.

It was a great day, thanks to JohnnyGK for running another great outing.

If LC was closer to my home, it would be worth considering a membership. Great 27 holes, nice conditions, good range, nice practice greens and chipping areas. Nice clubhouse and facilities as well. Highly recommended.

Ran a really fun Golf Moose / Greenskeeper.org Private Course outing Monday at Los Coyotes CC. Saw a bunch of GKers there, great playing conditions, good weather, excellent service … all smiles. Fantastic staging set up for an outing.

Played with GKers rgm2525, hammer74 and tomokir. Awesome time despite playing terrible. Made a “That’s Golf” crazy downhill breaking birdie putt on #17 to put little Neosporin on my scorecard. LOL.

Conditions cart path only featuring soft, smooth, medium speed greens. Lush, not cut (understandably due wetness) fairways that provide next to no roll but never a thin lie (full lush coverage). Thick sticky 4 to 6 inch rough which was difficult to find you ball in and especially hit from. Well maintained tee boxes and bunkers. Looks like they might be in the middle of a sand replenishing project as some bunkers had fresher, more white sand than others.

Also played in the 3/13/23 GolfMoose outing. This is the best I've ever seen Los Coyotes, the rain has helped. Greens were really nice, just stay on the downhill side of the cup. They had some pin placements that made being above the cup really difficult. Rough was really thick in places. Fairways nice. Bunkers quite good. The snails were huge. Highly recommended. Thanks Johnny for setting up another great outing.
