Out yesterday with fellow GKer Larryq2001 and two other buddies. Single carts and face mask required in clubhouse and practice areas. Restaurant is open and snack shop also open. Beautiful day in Orange County with temps 10 degrees cooler than the IE.

Seems that golfers in OC are a little more relaxed regarding face coverings. I saw many groups in shared golf carts with no social distancing. The course did a good job cleaning and making carts available.

We all rode in single riding carts.

Course was in fair shape. Greens were a little bumpy, and quicker than they look at about 9 on my imaginary STIMPmeter. Fairways had good coverage and the rough was not too penal other than the grabby grass catching the clubface. Traps were rakeless and fair. Layout was more interesting back 9 compared to front. 9. Snackshop was well stocked and decently priced including $5 shot specials....my kinda snack shop.... Overall, a nice day with friends and got to get some great Vietnamese food nearby because we were very close to Little Saigon.

Paid $39 prepaid and than $15 for cart. Just happy Miles Square and golf industry in general is getting lots of business.

First time out since the Virus changed everything we do: was able to walk the Classic Friday for $45 at 10AM. PoP at 4 hrs. Followed a slow 3-ball with one dude struggling ... obviously he wanted to play but just not able to walk 18 holes ... must be tough for those who are jonesin' for golf but need a power cart to get around. He did finally drop out after they let us play thru at the turn. The course, as expected, has no fairway divots and the tee boxes are very clean. Kikuyu is lush and green everywhere (almost) so not much roll out off the tee, rough a bit thick and spotting your ball was a must (we lost a couple, just couldn't find 'em). Greens a tad slow with hardly any ball marks, reversed cups so your ball only went down an inch. Flags inserted which is a much better idea than no flags at all. Bunkers had no rakes but good sand. Range closed but I got an email it will be open today. Practice green closed until further notice. So, if this is the new normal so be it. Hopefully, in a few months the mess will be behind us and golf will be golf again :-)

Played Tues Feb 25th at 7am. Good breakfast as they open at 6am. Check in quick and easy, got out early and no one in front of us for the first 14 holes. A 2 some behind us after 4 holes but we stayed ahead ( we were a walking 4 some ) Visibility was about 120 yards for the first 7 holes, very difficult, I do not like playing in fog. With that much fog everything was wet. The tee boxes were level, the fairways were very good, rough was not to long, you could find your ball, traps had sand but was very wet because of the fog, greens were semi hard as not big ball marks, but were a little slow, again because of the fog. The sun finally came out on #9 and it was a nice day, greens dried out and got a little faster, POP was good at 344.

Hadn't been to Mile Square for a while, so looked forward to returning. While not the most exciting golf course, it provides good solid affordable golf with adequate challenge, but not to the point where it will expose all your weaknesses.

Condition was actually better than I expected. Most of the course seem to have very thin fairways and super firm greens, but there was a decent amount of grass on the fairways, and the greens held shots fairly well. ( Or maybe I just hit a few good shots? ) The bunkers I found had nice sand, well raked.

My biggest regret was that I never looked at the map of the proposed new single course layout. I thought about it when I was about half way home. Guess that will force me to return just to satisfy my nature

Teed off Wednesday about 7:10 and finished in 3:15. Started out as a single. A threesome asked me to play through on #4. The twosomes ahead were playing fast enough I finished as a single. The Greens were in very good condition. They rolled with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways mostly had good coverage with a some winter thin areas. Hole 16 has a fairway section that is patch work but it is manageable. The rough is winter thin to a couple inches so lies vary. The bunkers had plenty of sand but are fairly moist early in the morning. The tee boxes are fair. Some are a bit chewed up and/or a little unlevel. The staff were all friendly.

There is a map of the new single course configuration in the pro shop. The new course is slated to open at the start of 2021. The first 13 holes are the Classic course holes 1-13 in the current order. The last 5 holes will come from the players. If I read the map properly, the Players course holes 18 will be 14, the par 4 10th will be converted to a par 3 as 15, 1 will play the opposite direction as 16, 8 will be 17, and 9 will be 18. Hope I got that correct.

Played the classic today. Its typical mile square. Tee boxes chewed up and sanded. Fairways hit and miss. Some had great coverage, others had GUR. The greens were the highlight for sure. They were firm and fast. They matched the practice greens perfectly, they held shots, and putted true. Like always at MS, the greens were the highlight.

Met an old friend out at Mile Square Classic for a 7:52 tee time, today 10/21. Cool morning but it warmed up nicely and really was a beautiful day. Not very crowded that early and followed a slow 4 some (that had no business teeing off from the blues) but it was fine as I got a chance to catch up with my friend. Sill finished in just under 4 hours. Check in was easy enough but paid $54($54 seemed a bit steep for this course. $39 to walk and always do but we decided to ride). Wanted to inquire more about the announced closing of one the courses but the guys in the clubhouse were busy to talk with so no news to report there. The course is in good condition. For the most part, good coverage in the fairways. Some bare spots where they were aerated but not many. Rough was that kikuyu stuff and wasn’t too thick. Bunkers were in nice shape. Good firm sand but c’mon Mile Square players, rake your bunkers after use. Hint: That’s why they leave a couple of rakes by each bunker. Many deep foot prints in all the ones I was in. Greens were in pretty good shape after being aerated with little holes a couple of weeks ago. They just were not very fast. Not at all as fast as they looked. They should be rolling better in about a week or 2. I always enjoy playing here even though I usually face freeway traffic to get out there for a morning round. Not the most challenging course but the layout is fun.

Played Tues July 30. We play here allot so very friendly check in. Had a 7 am tee time and got out early. Course is in good shape, tee boxes and fairways good, rough was a little long and took some to fine your ball at times, was in one bunker and sand was ok. Greens were nice, rolled well. We were a walking 4 some. Teed off with no one in front of us and a riding 2 some behind, we lost the riding 2 some and caught a 4 some on 7 and pushed them a little. POP was still good at 336. At $39 walking senior this is a great value for O.C. and is a great course to walk. The only issue is I live in norco a leave my house at 430 to get thru Corona and the 91 frwy. Lol
