Started just after 8am.Driving range was great as usual,practice putting green was in very good shape but the chipping green seems to be suffering from a fungis.Still nice to be able to chip anyway. Besides the greens, the course was in nice shape. The greens had white caps all over them. This made for bumpy greens and inconsistent speed.Sevice was great.Have fun.

Played the Goose at 1140AM on Wednesday, 5/13/15, with GKer walnutgolf. Booked online on the course website for $50. Come to find out that senior discounts aren't available when you book online - you have to call the course to get that reduction. Good conditions as always - amazing how the Goose stays green and lush while other courses are dry and thin. Greens great, fairways had good lies, rough benign, tees level and good grass. Traps were a mix of thin/firm/damp and damp/plenty of sand. Easy check-in, starter was brief and to the point, we got off right on time, saw the cart girl several times. Overall POP was just over 4.5 hrs. Some greens on the back had been verticut with shallow cuts, but it didn't affect roll or speed. All greens had about a dozen or so old and new ballmarks. And the gnats are really bad, especially on the holes next to the river. If you are in a cart, keep your mouth closed while riding, or be ready to pick up small extraneous protein bits. Beware of the construction related to grading/building going on just west of the course. The main entry road on 68th Street is closed by the construction, and the detour takes you into small hick roads with poor or no signage, so allow time to get lost on the way to the course and out again.

Really don't have much to add to the last review posted here. Conditions were excellent as usual here. They seem to have added some new sand in the bunkers. In the past they have always been a bit thin but now there is pretty good sand.
Greens were quick and firm but held shots well. Not too many ball marks.
This is my favorite track in the inland empire. Great conditions-challenging layout and good value.

Played 5/9/10 (Sat @ 0744) under overcast conditions. As someone blessed with Scottish heritage, I can really appreciate a great golf course and a bargain. The Goose has both!

Played 5/9/10 (Sat @ 0744) under overcast conditions. As someone blessed with Scottish heritage, I can really appreciate a great golf course and a bargain. The Goose has both!

The only thing consistently holding the course back from real greatness is the inconsistent condition of their bunkers. Sometimes near hardpan, others just right. The rest of the course in in great shape from tee to green. The POP is almost always under 4 hours early Saturday. This is helped by very skilled rangers.

The rest of the staff is fantastic as well. Their friendliness and concern for your golfing experience is sincere. I started out walking, but got a back spasm at the turn and had to get on the cart of one of the guys in my group. I offered to pay the cart rental fee and they insisted on waiving it.

The 19th hole food is good, not great. You get an honest pour as well.
If you can get past Jimmy's rabid support of USC (hard for us Bruin fans :-) there is nothing holding this course back from being the Best Value in Southern Ca. Go play the Goose!

Fairways weren't as nice as I have seen in past, and greens were on slow and bumpy side.

Bunkers were a little heavy, with plenty of sand.

Very good range conditions, additional chipping green now open, between range and first tee.

Pace of play was a little slow as well. Played right behind HOFer and former Angel, Rod Carew, which made for some fun discussion when we got backed up on the tees. He swings the club left handed with deft touch around the greens. Very pleasant guy to talk with, but even he had some complaints about pace of play. Can't argue with a hall of fame guy....

Good customer support throughout, and always very good value.

Played Sat 4/25 8:40 teetime. This was my third time playing here and no disappointment. We got out right on time. Course was very well maintained. Greens were rolling true, fairways and roughs were rush and sand traps filled with soft sands. POP was 4:20 on sat morning. Beverage cart came by three times. What more can you ask?
I live in Irvine area and this course is by far better value than Irvine courses. I wish it was located closer to my area, but it's worth the drive.

Well, finally got to play Goose for the first time (4/10 @ 12:20). After all I heard, I had high expectations and they were met. Great golf experience all around.

Well, finally got to play Goose for the first time (4/10 @ 12:20). After all I heard, I had high expectations and they were met. Great golf experience all around.

Greens are just coming out of a light aeration so they were a hair bumpy but still rolled pretty true. They were also playing quite firm so you really had to adjust approach yardages in order to account for the amount of release you would get. Fairways were fantastic and the bunkers looked very good (managed to miss them all on Friday). Rough was also in very nice shape. Several back 9 tee boxes had been punched and sanded but tee markers were placed away from those areas for the most part.

POP was about 4:30 which I thought was fair considering the wind and the firmness of the greens. The cart girl was circling like crazy and I think we saw her 5 times. The practice facility is also outstanding. Tasty quesadilla in the cafe and Stone IPA on tap gets my seal of approval as well.

Outstanding facility and can't wait to come back.

Not rating today and a quick review, course is undergoing maintenance. The tee boxes are punched, with small firm areas left clear for suitable teeing grounds. Fairways, rough and bunkers were good to great. Greens were thatched/punched with small tines, lightly sanded and rolled. They were very quick, with less break than expected. Good to play now, should be exceptional again in a few weeks.
