Played on 3/22/15 at 2pm. The weather was good, not windy, not too hot, not crowded. Pace of play was fluid. Paid $49 for a twilight round but it was worth every dollar. I would definitely come back. Fairways were lush and even and greens were fast.

Tee Boxes: Level, plenty of teeing off spots 8/10
Fairway: Pristine 8/10
Rough: Seemed well kept 8/10
Greens: Super Fast but Smooth and fair, I wonder when they will aerate?
Practice Facility: Range hit off grass, plenty of putting and chipping practice area
Staff: Friendly

Played Sunday 3/22. This course never disappoints.

Customer service was excellent as always. Practice and warm up area is great. pace was great at just over 4 hours. My group stopped at the shop to grab food and beers at the turn to go. After the 10th hole, the Marshall told us we were falling behind pace. He was very polite and professional about it. My group picked it up and within a couple holes caught up to the group in front of us. The Marshall came back and thanked us! Unnecessary but very classy.

Ok on to the course. Tee boxes are very good, fairways are very good, sand traps are good, although some were pretty damp even around noon. The greens were excellent. They were rolling fast and true. There was some minimal ball mark damage but nothing too concerning.

I only wish I didn't live 80 miles from this course.

the course was in great condition and the folks that work there are most friendly I have come across at any course. great practice facitities with a new chipping area along with grass range, sand trap and great putting green. the rates are fair and they even have a "marshall" that is out there looking out for slow groupls and helping them speed it along. Every course should learn from this one! Even though it is a bit of a drive, I highly recommend heading out there to play this one! Watch out for the 18th hole! and a few challenging par 3's too....you will use every club in your bag on this course...Don't miss playing here....a great track!

Took the long drive up to "The Goose" to play with dconnally, allan_grant and sr129, besides the great company the course was well worth the drive! The course was in real nice condition and I found the layout interesting. If you miss in the wrong places you will pay with these fast hard greens. I was in a couple, well placed, fairway bunkers and was glad they were relatively firm, but the green side bunkers looked to be the same consistency (although I wasn't in any but they sure looked firm . . . not fluffy white).
Overall I would play there at least once a month if the course was at least an hour drive time closer! :)
I just wish we had more courses down here in SD that were in that nice of conditions . . . maybe I just got "The Goose" at a good time?

Played the Goose at 1:05PM on Saturday, 3/7/15; booked on the course website for $49. Joined by GKers Rat-Patrol, allan_grant, and sr129 - enjoyed meeting new GKers and playing with all. [!!First time I've ever filled a foursome using the Meet-Play post on GK!!] Surreal weather with NO wind at Goose Creek on a hot sunny, beautiful day, with occasional puffs to take the edge off as we went along. Only time the later breeze affected shots was around 5PM as we were teeing off with a slight crosswind on #17 [OB right - augghhh!!]. Greens were in very good shape - very firm, great turf coverage, rolled well at medium-fast speeds. Mix of lush coverage and some thin areas, with greens showing a lot of footprints on the back nine. Many new and old ballmarks on all greens. Fairways were cut close, firm and dry and provided good lies and lots of roll. As usual, lots of unfilled divots and gouges. Rough was cut short and rarely penal, and areas around greens generally had good coverage and were consistent to chip from. Runoffs near greens were close mown and, with these firm conditions, you could putt from well off the green. Fairway traps were fairly hard-packed and easy to play full shots from. I wasn't in a greenside bunker but others didn't seem to have problems playing shots. Tees were level and close cut - par 3 tees were more torn up, as usual. Check-in was easy and starter got us squared away. Saw the cart girl several times and a roving marshal a couple times. The course was busy but not overly crowded at this time - POP was ~4.5 hr. It's been about 18 months since I was here last and they've enlarged the practice ground and built a new chipping green and a new putting green next to the starter's shack. Always a pleasure playing the Goose, especially with no wind!

Course is in fantastic shape from tee to green, even the bunkers had about 2's of sand. Only problem was pace, first time it took us over 4 hours to complete a round. It took us a little over 4 1/2 hours today waiting on every hole. 2 weeks ago the marshal was rushing everyone and today he was just sitting on his butt drinking coffee all morning. Will definitely be back as $38 is a bargain for this course.

Those of you who are old enough remember the saying "that nobody doesn't like Sara-Lee", well it also applies to the Goose. How can you not love this course. Always in great condition, decent pace of play, loads of fun to play, and while getting more pricey, still worth the $$.

Anything positive I can say has been said over and over in prior reviews. Course is in great shape, so get out and enjoy one of the more enjoyable tracks in Southern California

Played Sunday, 1/25 with a large group of Gk'ers and LA Golf Group at twilight. Always enjoy playing Goose Creek and they are always accommodating to our group. Play once a year as its a long drive for me but always worth the effort as you are treated to fast greens, lush fairways and an interesting layout. Wind was up on this day and hitting greens was challenging due the wind and shaved falloff's around the greens. Found myself chipping up to tucked pins with no room for error or you would just be chipping again from the other side or the same spot. Probably like this all the time but i didn't remember this aspect of the layout from previous times played. Its great when play a course that challenges you in different ways each time you play it. Conditions and pace of play were outstanding and rivals anything close to this price range, great value. Outstanding practice facilities and clubhouse provides all expected. Cant wait for the next time i play here. Those that live close should feel fortunate.
