Played on Saturday 1/17/15, teeing off just before 1:00PM. My buddy handled check in and bought lunch and some drinks prior to my arrival - smooth start with a good hot dog and a cold beer. On the first tee, my buddy and I were given the option of pairing up with another twosome at ~12:40PM, or playing behind a threesome. Since a third was going to join us after the turn, we elected to play as a twosome, so waited to play after the threesome, and teed up right around 12:50PM, after putting and chipping around the immaculate practice green.

Pace of play was the worst feature of the day, as groups were backed up on each tee of the front nine, but play opened up on the back nine, and we "sort of" finished, playing the last two holes in darkness (around 5:30PM).

Course conditions were quite good. Tee boxes were generally level to somewhat unlevel, with lush conditions except for a few areas that were chewed up, particularly on par 3 holes. However, there was always decent teeing ground to be found. Fairways were generally lush, with only some minor divot damage, and good lies in the green grass. Rough was generally lush, varying from green to brown, but only about 1 inch deep - balls in rough sat "up" for the most part. Bunkers looked in good shape (raked, with no mud or standing water) - the only bunker from which I played had a decent, thin layer of brown sand over a hard packed base. The greens were in good shape, green, soft to firm, and held well struck approach shots. Late in the day, spike marks left impressions in the slightly damp putting surface, but didn't seem to affect putts. In an exception to the rule, I found few ballmarks that were left without repair - as always, I repaired my own and any others I found within reason. The greens rolled true at medium/fast speeds.

This is a course that, except for the bottleneck of holes 3 through 8, I enjoy playing. The layout features some challenging tight holes, some easy wide open holes, and some holes with dramatic elevation changes. With a decent green fee during the week, I wouldn't hesitate to play here again.

No rating this week as the rain has a big influence. My last review asked for rain and did it do the course well. Coming up green and juicy. Cart path only and they have not been able to mow the course. Now that mother nature has done her part, the course just needs to keep it going. Only took 4 hours to play with cart path only and it was enjoyable.

Let us hope we get some rain as this course seems not to water. Fairways and rough all the same height and hard as a cart path. Sure, your ball will roll for a 250 yd drive but right thru the fairway,... Continue »

Sure, your ball will roll for a 250 yd drive but right thru the fairway, the rough, and right off the course. They were over seeding some fairways and on the back 9 looked as though maintenance had driven on the greens as there were tire tracks and your ball just bounced every which way. Tee boxes were being overseeded so most of the tees were grouped together, This made the course play a little shorter for the most part, although #11 par 3 was still playing 209. LOL Greens rolled smooth, fairways were good, in fact over watered in a few spots, thought we were in a drought, LOL Staff was friendly as usual. I like the track. I few weird holes but they make you think and then a few long holes were you just hit away.

Just got home from play Dos Lagos,… it was my FREE $15 Birthday Round. I haven’t played Dos Lagos in about a year. I remember the weekend it first opened, I was one of the first to play and I held the course record for about 6 mins.. ?. A lot has changed since then, and from the last time I played. They are still working on the club house, and it looks like it should be done by the end of the year. The staff is cool and very accommodating. The first thing I notice is how much the shrubs and rough areas have grown up. The Trees and bushes in the riverbed are really big and come into play on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th and the 9th hole. The 2nd hole is divided by overgrown bushes about 100yds in front of the White Teebox, and they are so high you can’t see the fairway pass them. The 6th hole Has a huge tree on the Left/Center and water on the right. The back 9 is a totally different golf course, these the hole you see when driving on Interstate15. 10-12 are wide open, one of the Lakes come into play on 13 & 14, and by the way, you better be ready for 14. It’s a MONSTER!,.. a 614 (blue) 579 (White) dog leg left, that goes uphill. On your tee shot you have to place your drive between this lil Mountain on the left and the lake on the right. And then get to a hugh green on top on this other lil mountain that has a great view of the area. A bogey is a good score here. 15 is a Mountain top to Mountain top par 3. If you are luck and play in the morning, this hole can be forgiving, but when its hot, your ball can and will roll down the hill. 16 is just unexplainable,… it’s a par 4 from the top of a mountain to a very narrow side of another mountain protected by sand traps all over the place. You better have a very accurate 200 yard club in your hand or you are in trouble. 17 is a straight 140 yd drop shot to a huge green, but you gotta hit the ball. 18 has water and it is a dogleg right. This hole is hard because you are actually hitting alongside the water or over the water on your second shot and that water acts like a magnet.
Overall, it is a very challenging course. The Front and Back are very different. I only used my driver on 3 holes. Each hole had a Black and white aiming hole that’s about 150 out, take aim to those poles and you will do good. If you play in the morning the greens are very slow and wet. It takes the sun a couple hours to clear the mountains and dry them out, but in the afternoon the greens and fairways are very fast. For the price, even my FREE $15 Birthday Round, it was worth it.

Played today using hot deal GN, sadly the course got a jump on punching the greens. I thought it started on Monday but we saw 4-5 greens that already were. Most greens were in sad shape.

Fairways were decent, but pretty wet in many areas. Bunkers were in great shape.

Construction happening at the club house....not affecting anything

Very hot out there today and if you are considering this course and have not played there before, be aware of the following: no gps, no cooler, no shade.

As usual Dos Lagos is a mixed bag of OK conditions and a course that is in desperate need of better maintenance. A couple of greens were airified. (no one ever mentions it). Overall this course is basically not worth playing unless you have a short drive to get there. The greens are not even maintained at a municipal course level and the rest of the course always looks like it's "ground under repair". Needs new management.

Haven't been to "Los Doggos" in awhile but some friends were playing so off I went. I will say it a very green farm....nice turf in fairways, nice med soft sand-- well groomed, tee boxes in nice shape... Continue »

I will say it a very green farm....nice turf in fairways, nice med soft sand-- well groomed, tee boxes in nice shape. My complaint was the conditions of the greens. Many were well pockmarked, some had dead, brown and sandy areas on them.....very poor shape. Not sure if its the bent grass in them or general inattentiveness? Also VERY VERY slow....add this to the condition, it was difficult to make putts. Front nine was in worse condition than the back. If they got the greens in order , Id really recommend the track. Never been a fan of the weird layout on the front, but a good challenge ought not be skipped based solely on that. It's a golf course.....play it.

Well I was here and playind in a lot of wind. I played here a lot latly in my men club but not all the time here. I like it but the green are still not grate and have punch holes in most of them but are good to. Some of these farways have some places with not vetry much grass but some small area where they have dirt. It was kina slow but I like it for practice with 3 balls or 4. I think soon it will be a nice course after the holle get filled in later. I will be here again soon to play even with it not so good. I wish some one will send a cart with some food and somethink to drink here.
