Overall, very good condition, with the fairways recovering nicely from coring since July 10.

The check in a breeze, good instructions from pro shop and starter; nice staff throughout the facility.
Playing blacks today, all tees in good condition. Fairways: some still showing coring marks, yet some already healed with lush grass and running long. I did notice some bare/dry patches on a few fairways. Rough is lush and thick, manicured very nicely. All sand I witnessed is good. The greens are quick, just a little bumpy, but true. At that hour of the day they grabbed extremely well. Lots of drinks cart passes. We enjoyed the layout in 4+15 for the weekday senior's $25 w/cart. Value indeed.
Good prac-fac, superb restaurant (opens 0700!!!), nice clubhouse and bar.
Worthy of a return, as JohnAlan below can attest.

Weather- Mid 90's but a little breeze
Pros- Everyone played this course in the last couple weeks and it is holding up fairly well with the hot weather. Tee boxes are awesome right now, perfect. Layout is heavenly. Bunkers are firm but consistent with lots of sand. The greens have few divots and roll true
Cons- Tons of burnout out areas in the fairway and rough. Place must just get eaten alive by the heat. Greens were rolling slow because of the constant watering throughout the day(they turned on the sprinklers while we were hitting approach shots)... and they never rolled consistently. This was a pet peeve but oh well.
Overall- Great track, great value, will come back... alot of greenskeeper people playing recently which is nice to see and get reviews.

Not much to add to what sixpez said other than to reiterate how differently the greens played early in the the round (wet in the morning) and toward the end of our round (drying out with a slight breeze). They were extremely receptive in the morning, and by the end of the round, a high, soft chip shot would run out 10-15 feet. (Full shots would probably still hold well, though, but I didn't hit enough greens to know.)

$35 is hard to beat out here. Replay rate was only $20, which we considered but decided against. Starter and staff were all very friendly.

The one minor complaint is that they need more drinking water on the course or to give each cart a cooler full of water like some courses in Palm Springs do.

Can't wait to get back here again. The course has always been one of my favorites.

Played here with my pal itslikeimsayin this morning. We used to play out here a lot back in the day. Even though it's a long drive, it was one of the best deals in SoCal. Neither of us had played since the casino took over, renovated, etc. Mainly stopped playing there because they jacked up the rates for awhile, but are now back down to where the deals are great again. It was only $35 today, and for primetime on a Saturday morning, you won't find a better course.

It was interesting going back out there and seeing all that had changed. The course felt familiar, yet a eerily different with the nines switched (that will take some getting used to), many trees removed, some holes reworked and some bunkers added in/revamped. As much as I love this course, I always struggled here. Today was no different. This course still owns me!

Conditions are very nice. I won't go into great detail with all the recent reviews posted here. Course is in great shape for mid-summer. Mostly green with some brown/dry patches here and there (nothing that affected play). Rough is not deep, but it's a thick/sticky grass that grabs your club, so you really have to take confident swings. I found many bunkers out there today and those were all in nice shape. Packed tight on top, which helps prevent plugged balls, but plenty soft underneath the surface so no problem getting under the ball. Greens in excellent shape. They were more forgiving on the front nine as they were still soft from watering. On the back, they firmed up and it was harder to hold approaches/chips.

Overall, this is still a great course and a must-play for SoCal folks. Worth every second of the drive to get there and the summer rates are exceptional. They are aerating the fairways next week (7/10), so just be aware of that.

If you are 55+, its a must.
BE AWARE fairway coring begins July 10.
We played the day after 1runner, tee off at 1030. Two of us did the front in 1+15, back 2+35 as we caught up to the morning launch.
My overall impression was very good. Great greens; bent grass,very soft, biting the ball, not too bumpy and picked up speed as the day progressed. I enjoyed the layout;played the blacks. Straight forward, no gimmicks, just 'here I am' and up to you to go get it.
Conditions were lush and well manicured. Some bare patches in fairways, rough was fine, as was sand. Nice clubhouse, staff, marshalers and drinks cart attendance. Read additional comments below from 1 runner,addicted.

Played Soboba on the 4th in the morning. First off the price is a fantastic deal for such a great course. Tee boxes were perfect. Fairways were fantastic. Rough was okay, some dry brown areas, some was thick, so hit and miss there but not bad. Greens held shots incredibly well, especially in the morning. They rolled smooth but wish they were a little faster. Overall it was in great shape.

Played a practice round with fellow GK'er Wdement On Wedneday 4/25/12:

I appreciated having Wendell along as I get prepared for the upcoming Can Tour Q-school qualifying as a "looper". I've played this course many times in the last 20 years. Pro yardage books are now $25!

The parking lot was empty when I arrived for our twi-light time,a total of THREE players on the practice range which included just the two of us. Pace of play took us just under 4 hrs, WOULD have been faster had the "DB" in front of us as a "SINGLE" player, playing from the "TIPS" not hit multiple tee & approach shots.

(He apparently THINKS he can play with the BIG BOYS, he should have tried this when THEY were in town just TWO weeks ago...The Nationwide Tour).

The "DB" played two & three shots per hole,there was NOBODY in front of him plus he WASN'T FIXING any of his BALL MARKS on the green!!!!

Back to the course, MUST PLAY RIGHT NOW, get out there FAST!

Bunkers: EXCELLENT
Tee Boxes: EXCELLENT, not one uneven lie or stance.
Fairways: EXCELLENT
Rough: EXCELLENT (playable, not as thick like it was for the Nationwide Tour)

Greens: Good...Why not EXCELLENT?

Several cups/lips were damaged, I can only gather people digging with their putters again to take the ball out of the hole.

PLAYERS including the single "DB" in front of us REFUSE to fix & repair ball marks,it's just that simple! NONE were being fixed "correctly" if any of them were at all. The greens actually putted somewhat true but had some bumpiness. Overall conditions of the greens were soft, you could throw darts and have checkability. I had to give the greens a 5 out of 10 rating. This is the ONLY negative of the current conditions.

There are two practice putting greens, one small green near hole #1 which overlooks the waterfall cascading off the back of the clubhouse.
Primary practice putting green near hole #10 (Btw, the holes USE to be flipped years ago that is why the large putting green is near #10).

I'd love to see more GK'ers out here, just a drive for me but with the current conditions, not a real problem!

Played Soboba on Sunday 4-22. Have played here many times since the changes a few years ago. Have always considered this one of my favorite courses. Well yesterday it not only met all of my requirements, but surpassed them. Since the Nationwide came through her a few weeks ago this course is in the best shape I have ever seen it. The Tee Boxes were perfect, the fairways lush, with the ball sitting up at all times. The Greens were fast but fair, and the traps had plenty of fresh sand in them. Now let's get to the rough. A normal 4-4 1/2 round took us over 5 hours to play because they haven't cut the rough since the Golf Tournament. Our foursome spent so much time looking for balls lost in the rough that the Marshall had to come over at least 3 times. We probably lost 8-10 balls in the long rough. If you are thinking about playing here in the next couple of weeks, please call and talk to the starter before coming. Overall still one of my favorite Golf courses, even if its in the middle of nowhere.
