Had 10:24 am tee time with Larryq2001 and my brother otonitoni. Pop was 4.5. Course is in great shape. Tee boxes level. Fairways and rough in great shape. Traps had good amount of sand and raked. Greens were super firm and in great shape running at 10/11. Great customer service and awesome practice facility. Really miss playing here and had a great day. Worth the trek from Monterey Park.

Played 3-12-19 with John, Mike, and Nick getting around the course in a little over 4 hours with no waiting. Tees were level with good coverage, and had a little bit of divot damage on some of the par threes. Fairways were in really nice shape, lush with great lies and descent roll out. Rough was very lush with some minor thin areas, and nice to hit from. Was in one greenside bunker that had nice sand and was well groomed. Greens were definitely the best part of the course, rolling smooth and fast and mostly firm. Overall course is in really good shape right now and worth playing.

Great time at Goose Creek! Fun and challenging to play the golf course set up for an SCGA qualifier that day. Still having nightmares about some of those pin placements. The afternoon wind added an extra layer of difficulty. I often hear it’s a golf course that is designed to be an easy bogey and difficult par. Well nothing was easy about Goose Creek Tuesday! – LOL

Course was in great shape. Greens fast, very firm and mostly smooth. Fairways lush, cut tight and firm. Rough short and not that punishing but you certainly wanted to be in the fairways. Tee boxes (played the blues) lush, tight and level. Bunkers had quality sand and well maintained.

Layout, I just posted some beautiful photos from Tuesday, mostly level, large undulating greens with many false fronts. Fairways mostly wide but miss them and pay the price of trees, OB, brush hazards and water hazards. Even though we rode, it’s a gem of a walker’s course. Tees are spaced next to the previous hole greens and as I mentioned level course. The layout allows those that like playing a high or low ball to score… as long as they are putting well. Lots of dog legs and fun risk/reward par 5’s.

Great service from all the staff.

I made the quick trip south on the 15 to join the GK gurus at Goose Creek, following SCGA Mid Am qualifier. I arrived early and took advantage of a decent lunch menu while watching the players play 18 from the clubhouse patio. They also have a nice beer selection, including a great red ale from Fullerton's Bootlegger's Brewery.

I haven't played Goose Creek in 6 years and could not remember much except how gloomy it was for both my morning rounds. The course just pops with sunny clear skies, green forever. They have a large grass driving range and huge practice green, with the same undulations you'll see on the course.

Course was in phenomenal shape. The white tee boxes were all level with no damage. Fairways were like carpet, with one showing damage and marked off as GUR. The rough was gradual with it getting deeper the farther you were away from the fairway. I found one green side bunker and the sand was "medium heavy." The greens were just awesome and probably the fastest I've played on. They were firm and glassy smooth, but high shots did check and leave a mark.

I also went out yesterday and echo everyone's comments thus far. Just how tough was it, well the winning score for the SCGA Mid Am qualifier was +1, yes over par. I don't know if I've seen a qualifier that didn't have a least one person under par. I even think the wind picked up as we start so it made the conditions that much tougher. I think someone mentioned that there was a 2 club wind I think I hit a difference of 3 clubs a couple of times.

Greens were in great shape, they had those things rolling. I was surprised they could get them that fast with all this rain. I just couldn't get it in my head which is probably why I 3 putted so many times.

Fairways are great too. There were some GUR but they were clearly marked and still plenty of room to hit. Nice turf to hit from too.

Rough not too bad but enough to get your attention. You need to catch it clean.

I still think this course needs to be re-rated, I think I you look at the scorecard and look at the rating and slope you'd think this is a push over but this is an angry goose. I'm actually trying to find a way to get back up there before the maintenance. Staff was outstanding as they always are. I wish I lived closer I would play it much more than I do. It's a good time to go play.

Was fortunate enough to join up with fellow GK Gurus yesterday at The Goose, played along with Jim, Rob, and Matt. Great guys to enjoy a beautiful day of golf. Goose Creek hosted the SCGA qualifier prior to our tee times and as expected the tees were moved back on most holes and the pins were tucked into jaw dropping locations, greens were running about 12.5 so they were very fast but rolled true, hard to get the ball to grab the edge and fall in, you needed to be dead on the center of the hole. Fairways were like carpet with just a few areas recovering from the overnight rain we had. Sandtraps were full and not too wet so easy to recover from errant shot in the bunkers. Tee Boxes were perfect, little wet on some holes but easy to find a good spot to put your peg in. Rough is deceptively penal and you will find your ball most times nestled into a blanket of grass making it a challenge to get the clubhead through. We had a prevailing wind which is common for Goose Creek afternoons so you had to adjust on the fly to get the correct yardage to plan on hitting. Thanks to Ross and the staff at Goose Creek for giving us golfers such a great facility to enjoy the greatest game.

Joined Jim, Rob, and Steve yesterday during the guru rounds yesterday. After Reading everyone's review one thing is for sure. Don't make the Superintendent angry because he will put pins in the most diabolical locations you can think of. Course was in Fantastic shape from tee to green as expected this time of the year after all of the rain.

Earlier in the day they had the SCGA qualifier and they stretched the course out to max distance. Pins were all tucked and greens were very firm and fast. Add that to the false edges on all green it made for a tough day for your short game. Tee's and fairways were lush. I can only say one fairway had some Ground Under Repair but even it didn't look bad. Rough was generally good as long as you were within 10-15 yards of the fairway. Ii was not in any sand so I cant judge it but from the look it seemed fine.

Overall this a very fun course and I highly recommend.

Vince had a handful of birdies and a great day putting, so that was great to witness as well. The rest of us each got one, I believe. Some very good shots made, and what a good time!

Last off of the Gurus, I think our POP was just about 4hrs, maybe just a few mins more, but was a good pace overall.

Received word from Ross Fisher that the greens were very firm and not holding shots very well. That indeed was the case - they were very fast, but did putt very nicely/smooth. Best approach was to guess about a club less than the yardage. Did have at least 4 balls roll off the back after landing on the greens.

Tees, fairways and rough were probably the best overall I've seen this year. Got mud a few times on the ball, but fairways were really nice, firm, good lies, and no mushy areas whatsoever. Was in one greenside bunker, and sand was fluffy.

Might try to get back out before aeration in a few weeks time. Thanks to Johnny and Ross Fisher for setting up the great day for us!

Great day at the Goose with GKers Matt, Rob and Steve. Windy, warm, perfect golf weather! Found the course in great shape, all cylinders running well. Greens were fast and tricky, tees were level, fairways plush, likewise with the rough, fun varied layout that was set up pretty tough. Second time here and I liked it the first go around and enjoyed it even more today. Go play it! Addendum: After sleeping on it I just wanted to add that the contours of the greens, runoff/collection areas, pits and dips makes this a really fun course to play . . . tricky, but not overly so. This course makes you think which helps keep, my mind anyways, engaged and interested.
