The overall conditions continue to be above average every time I visit. Greens were rolling pretty nice after a 1/4" punch three weeks prior. I couple guys I played with "complained"??, that the course was a little to narrow for them. Plenty of tree lined fairways to maybe give you that feeling, but to me it just adds to the overall beauty and challenge here.
All the greenside bunkers were recently replaced with new sand. They've trimmed some trees, (especially 18th green side), that open it up a bit. Staff very friendly, fairly large practice green & driving range.
If you like great scenery, quiet, birds chirping, you won't be disappointed.
This is my go-to course for my out of area friends,

Greens- Most were in decent shape. They were still bumpy from the last aeration and some still had sand visible. They ran at a good medium-fast pace and were very receptive.

Course was is over-all good to great condition. The course has not dried out much yet and is playing almost on the lush side. The greens should smooth out in a week ?

I'd heard and read about CrossCreek (Why no space between Cross and Creek?) and I finally had an opportunity to play this course using Greenskeeper's unlimited play for $40 coupon. The first thing I noted was the location was in an area I had no idea was developed in any way. From the 15 freeway all you can see are some dark imposing "almost" mountains and once you crest those and head down to the valleys and hills below you, you're presented with a truly idyllic setting. There are mansions and ranches and orchards as far as the eye can see and appropriately in this wine country, a few vineyards. Just about as beautiful a setting as you can find to place a course on but would the course match the beauty of the surroundings? Thankfully, the answer is yes. Its a wonderful layout that winds through hills, over small streams and small canyons with expansive views and small details that add to your golf experience. In many of these canyons and stream beds you'll see very large old growth oak trees that have been around for at least a couple hundred years, judging by the size and girth of the trunks and impressive canopies. On hole #17, a short par 3, the backdrop is stunning with rock formations and a lush forest with a creek below you; I half expected Lord Greystoke himself to swing by followed by all of his apes. Just a beautiful hole. Its also very rare for us to have a feeling of near total isolation away from residential areas and industry as we golf but that's what you get here. There are no homes bordering the holes just distant views of said ranches and orchards and it becomes a bit of a sublime experience that at times makes your mind wander away from golf and a little bit of Zen creeps in. The course itself is extremely well designed with a variety of very challenging holes and some easy ones but all flow nicely. The greens rolled very true and tee boxes were level and the fairways were nice and lush. I struggle to find anything negative to say about this place. This was a unique experience and coupled with the really friendly staff and excellent practice facilities, its about as good a golf experience as you can have without belonging to a private club in Rancho Santa Fe, a similar feeling location. If you haven't been here yet, do make the trip; it will be more than worth it and don't forget to stop, do your chakra chant and .... breathe ....exhale...... and take it all in and....be very thankful.

Fairways are darn near perfect right now. Lush, green and perfectly firm. Highlight of the course right now.

Teeboxes were pretty nice, level and plenty of grass with very little divot damage. Overall, definitely worth a visit out there right now. Use the 40$ deal and play til you drop. I love the layout, very tough from the back tees, just don't care for a couple of the teeshots on the back side, but other than that, great layout.

Fourth group off this am (cold, cold, cold) and finished in four hours. The tee boxes were like concrete? The fairways were nice and green, but also were like concrete?? The only soft spot on the course was the lush, green, 6-12" rough!! We even found the greens to be hard and nearly impossible to stay on even when hit with good shots!!! The views are the best from this place, so remote and natural compared to most any other So Cal course. I believe they are scheduled to do the greens soon - they need it. The greens rolled well and were quick once you were on them. Definitely a course to play - just prepared to be humbled!!

Played late morning last Thur. 3/12. Crossed another IE course off my list when I played Crosscreek, leaving only Pechanga, yet left to play.
Our threesome was divided on how much we enjoyed the course, two hated it, but I liked it. One thing we all agreed on were the conditions, nearly immaculate. Seriously, resort like conditions, flat lush T's (some divot damage, from irons, even on par fours). Fairways lush, nearly perfect. Rough, very consistent length of about 3 inches, lush, thick, sticky and very penal. Greens, the best I have played on in awhile, smooth and fast like glass, minimum damage from ball marks. Chipping was interesting, because the greens are raised, more so than any other course I can think of in the IE, combine that with the rough and the speed of the greens and you have conditions that pro's probably deal with. The only knock on the greens is they did not seem to hold well.
Part of the difficulty of this course was not knowing where you are going, with my Skycaddie and a yardage book I think we did OK, but some holes definitely can use some tips, GPS like you find on the Industry Hills course's, would be a big help on this course.
This is not a kiddy course, I think this course is best suited for better than average golfers and not for newbies, I can definitely see how this course can get real slow on the weekends, but our pace was just over 4 hours.
GK has a coupon, $40 with a re-play, that's a great deal, you will need the first round just to get to know the course.

The pace of play was a joke, we would be backed up 2 groups deep on the tee pad. The Marshall was more concerned with where my buddy bought his golf bag at instead of his job. We left after 9 holes, it was a waste of time. I was shocked that nothing was done about the pace. There was a total lack of golf course etiquette. I will not be going back to this course not even if it was free to play. My suggestion is avoid this place til they decide to enforce speed of play.

First time playing here and it is a very interesting place to play. Forced carry on the first hole is rough from the back tees given the short driving range. Hard to get the feel for all your clubs when you cannot hit some of them. This course is partially target golf and partially "rear back and hammer it ... but straight." If you hit it where you need to, the greens are visible and rather accessible. There are some blind shots, but they can be minimized. The one issue I had was a lack of yardage markers in the fairway, but since I carry a laser rangefinder I can work around it.

The greens are fast and hard. Sadly, so was the sand as nobody had worked on it after the course watering that day. I am not sure if there are any flat putts on the course, but you do NOT want to be above the pin unless you can sneeze on the ball and keep it on line.

Great course and I will be back on Monday to give it another shot. First time through is a learning experience and the second round should be putting what was learned into play.

Midday weekend round in four and half hours (okay for this course). First tee is always wet and under maintenance? The overall condition of the course is great!! Most fairways were full and green with good lies. The rough for the most part was very lush and thick. The greens were still showing signs of recent work - but rolled like a pool table! It's always been one of the more difficult courses for me to shoot well on - I think the course is much underrated! Staff is very friendly and it is hard to find another course with so much natural beauty. This course is closer to me distance wise than many other courses - not sure why I don't get up there more often (It's in the boondocks)!!
