Played out here the second week of December. Course was in great shape. If you're looking for green grass, with barely a spot of brown, this is your place right now. I wish my yard looked so green. Greens rolled smooth and quick, but not too fast. My experience in the sand was pleasant, soft but not overly penal. Always a flat spot to tee off from. Wonderful carts with a 6 month old OS that has the distance to the pin. Couldn't ask for a better experience.

Played 12-13-21 with GK Gurus early morning and finishing in a little over 4 hours with no waiting. Tee boxes were level, green and lush, very nice. Fairways were in really good shape with decent roll out and great lies. Rough was very green and lush but cut down to a manageable height. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers that were well groomed with real nice sand. Greens were in great shape, semi-soft ,medium pace and rolling very smooth. Very fun and challenging course with wide fairways, big greens, some elevation, and water mixed in on more than half the holes. In really good shape right now. Highly recommend.

Played Monday, 12/13, with the GK Gurus. I love this place as it drips class all the way through. I enjoyed a great chorizo breakfast burrito as I watched everyone warm up on the large all grass range and adjacent pitching area, along with a putting green all situation in the same area just before the 1st tee.

The course is typical Arnold Palmer design, wide fairways but danger lurking, with water on 13 holes. Fairways were lush, green, and incredible. Rough was about 2 inches, no real issues to hit from. Bunkers were real nice, easy to hit from with nice white sand. Greens were smooth and medium fast. Just all around great conditions.

Classic Club is a fun but difficult course, I think it's harder than it looks. It should be in the rotation for any Palm Springs area golf trip.

Great time out with fellow GK Gurus at Classic Club on Monday 12/13. First time playing there at sunrise and it was an absolute pleasure. Just a beautiful desert sunrise on an immaculate conditioned formal PGA Tour golf course. Classic Club is one of my favorite all time golf courses to play despite me never having had a well-played round there. Everything about Classic Club is GRAND. The clubhouse, an ambiance on the patio that reminds me of the pirates of the caribbean ride at Disneyland, large practice facilities and above all, the golf course. What a layout with large everything. Big bunkers, water hazards, fairways, greens, etc. Every hole demanding and beautiful. Capped off by a tremendous Par 5 risk/reward finishing hole. Service is outing as expected from this high end Troon managed club. The golf carts on practically new and maxed out with the Shark Experience GPS/entertainment system. It’s a BIG TIME feel that gets your adrenalin going. A must play. Check out the photos I just posted. Highly Recommended.

Classic Golf Club December 13, 2021 first experience summary,

This last Monday, December 13th I experience playing the "Grand Classic Golf Club" with my friends Gary, Nick and Dave "Uncle Boy". This was my first time playing with Dave, what a great person to play with and experiencing Classic with him for the first time. When I first booked my GK Guru spot with Johnny, I was told many times that I was going to love playing the Classic Golf Club where many PGA tournaments were played. I was so excited to hear this and boy the way my buddies described the Proshop, I knew that I was in for a great surprise.

My buddies weren't wrong. At the moment that we arrived to the Classic club and looking at the proshop mansion because that's exactly what it looks to me and was so excited to see the inside and what was behind that. WOW!!! what an amazing golf course the Classic Club is. Starting from the golf carts very fancy and the seats not leather at all. Even though the temperature was on under the 40's the seat were very comfortable to seat on. The practice putting greens 100+ times better that I what I'm used to play in my community golf courses. AMAZING!!!!
The driving range and free practice ball, the only thing that I had to say is "SUPER AMAZING". I was just so happy that I could stay there and just enjoy the view and hit balls. The the moment of true came at 7:30AM our tee time. Got to the first tee and just couldn't stop looking at the wonderful/beautiful fairways. Dave and I played from the white tee's which it was just perfect. The golf course it's so hard that we just want to enjoy playing and not even count your shots. Just wanted to take it all in. The only thing that make a little sad is the white tees are not well kept. There was only 3/18 tees that you could find a level place to stand and hit your ball. They definetly need a little TLC. Other that everything was just amazing, greens amazing, fairways spectacular,the rough a little tough to get off as it totally grabs your club when you try to get a good shot from it. The sand bunkers amazing!!! I loved getting in them as the sand was just so smooth and even. Very easy to hit the ball from. I took so many photos as the view from every TEE WAS JUST SPECTACULAR!!!

Customer service and marshalls 10+ I loved loved first visit at the Classic Club, hoping to play there again with my GK Guru Buddies. Thank you GK for such a wonderful gift of being able to play this GPA golf course. I totally invite you to play the Classic Club if you have a chance you need to register if GK books another Guru event. Over all rate the Classic Club a 9 except the white tees 7.5.

Overview: Played the Classic Club with Gary, Pedro and Nick on Monday 12/13 ... we had a lot of fun and enjoyed each other's company. The first time playing with Gary and Pedro and I hope that we have the opportunity to play again as a foursome in the future ... thank you to each of you for an enjoyable round of golf.
The Classic Club is an Arnold Palmer designed championship golf course that was inspired and built by the HN and Frances C. Berger Foundation. The Classic Club was the host course for the PGA Tour's 2006, 2007 and 2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic ("the Hope").

Clubhouse: The clubhouse is one of the largest and most beautiful clubhouses that I have every seen. It is a Mediterranean style that has locker rooms, the golf shop, a lounge and the restaurant - Bellatrix. You go out on the back patio and it overlooks a beautiful waterfall, a huge putting green and about four of the holes. From the back patio you also have beautiful mountain views to the north and west.

Course: The Classic Club has wide fairways, 30 acres of lakes and streams, rolling terrain and with several elevated tees you get beautiful mountain views. The course was in tremendous shape. The over seed turned out very good to excellent ... I love when courses over seed the course from wall to wall. The tee boxes were in good shape, but the white tee boxes did not seem that level and were a little chewed up. The fairways were very good but seemed a little thin in spots. The over seeded rough was in excellent shape, it was lush and about an inch in length. The sand was excellent ... I was in three green side bunkers and two fairway bunkers. The sand was consistent and very easy to hit out of, and all of the bunkers were freshly racked. The greens were smooth, consistent and ran at a good pace.

Final Thoughts: The Classic Club is a Troon managed company ... which prides itself on customer service, and today all of the player assistants were very helpful. It looked like the all the golf carts were brand new and the seats in the carts were very comfortable. The GPS was excellent. Last but not least ... the Classic Club sits in the "wind tunnel" right by the I-10, and the course always has the issue of being very windy to play at, but today we were very fortunate to have little or no wind at all. I would definitely suggest to play the Classic Club on your next visit to the Coachella Valley ... even more so when the wind is down.

Rode the Blues (6711/72.6/134) in around 4.5H early morning with GK Guru's Gary, Pedro and Dave. CPO the first part of the round slowed things down. Fun, relaxed group to play with, great to see old faces. Thanks to John for setting up and to Classic Club for having the guru group out. Very calm by Classic Club standards, but it was brisk early and still not warm even by the time we were finishing around noon. Fun Arnold Palmer design, nice elevation changes, lakes and valleys coupled with trees that would make you think this is more of a mountain than desert course make C.C. a very unique layout for this area. Tees level and lush with good coverage. Most divots already maintained. Fairways were the only thing not almost immaculate. Mostly lush with a few thin areas here and there but still quite good, just not as excellent as everything else. Rough lush and green from horizon to horizon. Just deep enough to be penal w/o being TOO penal. Sand traps excellent with deep, thick, fine sand that both looked and played great. Greens firm, smooth and medium fast. They rolled very nicely. As always, customer service was excellent from everyone encountered here. Complementary water and good range balls on a 1st class grass practice facility. Drink cart out making the rounds. Upgraded carts with nice GPS and ports for electronics. Huge, beautiful clubhouse, everything about this place is top notch. Definitely recommended.

Got to sample there breakfast burrito which was tasty and do a quick warmup on there all grass range and chipping area. Friendly proshop and cart barn staff.

Bring a camera as this place is off the hook nice and after my second time playing it one of my favorites in the desert.

Fairways were a 9/10 with perfect lies albeit a bit wet in the morning the first couple of holes due to the cold weather. Pleasure to hit off of.

Greens were in great shape rolling smooth and quick. Holding shots nicely with height or spin. Green complexes have some awesome swales and undulation which can make pin setting here tough if they wanted to. Rating 9/10

Tees were lush, level and in good shape. Rated 9/10

Rough around the greens and fairways were in the 9.5/10 shape. Lush, green but playable and perfect to the naked eye.

Was in one greenside bunker and one Fairway bunker that were both raked to perfection and had perfect amount of sand. Rated 9/10


Layout has forced carries on many holes with beautiful big majestic lakes. Couple reachable par 5s but trouble lurkes on many holes. Many huge Fairway bunkers present. Lots of variety on dogleg left and right holes which are awesome. Beautiful finishing hole. Former PGA tour stop that's a must play in the area. One of the better courses I have ever played.

Highly recommended.

Played Classic Club on 5/15 with high expectations and to be honest, I left disappointed. It could be the time of year but the conditions of the course were not up to par for the price we paid ($135).

The layout of the course was great! The par 5s in particular were really special. The par 3s were great especially hole 12, just beautiful.

This course was on my bucket list and I'm glad I played it but I may or may not be back.
