Played 1-19-26 in the morning walking as a foursome and finishing in a little under 4 1/2 hours with some minor waiting. Tee boxes were mostly level with some of them being on the thin side, and minor divot damage on par threes. Fairways for the most part were in good shape. There were a few bare areas, and some wet spots where they haven't dried out yet from the rains, but mostly good lies and decent roll out. Primary rough along fairways was 2-3 inches, in good shape and thick, outside that is 1-2 feet and lost ball territory. Was not in any bunkers but they looked to be in good condition and well groomed. Greens were in good shape, rolling medium pace and mostly smooth with an occasional bump mostly from unrepaired pitch marks. Overall course in good condition. Recommend playing.

Course lush and in very nice prime season condition. POP moves well here, Canyon is the slower of the 2 courses (even though easier) because some of the holes are so spread out. Side note on golf course ratings. I have played Ventana Mountain and Canyon over 100 times each and kept my stats. My average score on Ventana Canyon is the exact average below Ventana Mountain the course ratings indicate it should be.
Tees and fairways lush and well maintained. Sand near immaculate. Rough mostly dormant, clumpy Bermuda mowed low. Lies can vary tremendously within a small area. Large Bermuda greens firm and medium quick. Stay below the hole! Few ball marks. Restaurant good for a golf course. Customer service excellent both inside/outside the club. Practice facilities and the GPS on the carts both excellent. Men's lounge nice place to have a meal or get a drink with numerous big screen TV's in a friendly atmosphere. Newly renovated gym is a nice addition as well. Highly recommended.

Played Mon 1/19, 7:40 tee time; 4:30 round. nice sunny day... course in good shape. greens bumpy, but running nice... like a 10. bunkers mostly ok, but not well raked. It's a decent track, a little steep on the green fee for what you get. Course sits under a runway approach, so getting airplanes flying over you all round., hence the name i guess: skylinks. easy walk, if you are so inclined. cart girl came around after 11am. Had a good time.

Course continues to be in excellent prime season condition. Played three times in the last week, POP ranged from 3.5H during the week to 4.5H on the weenend. Lush everywhere except the part of the rough that is not over seeded. Tees and fairways lush and well maintained. Sand well maintained. Harder pan on fairweay bunkers, nice and fluffy greenside. Almost always freshly raked that day. Rough not overseeded and is mostly dormant, clumpy Bermuda mowed low. Can be penal with lies varying tremendously within a small area. Large Bermuda greens firm and medium quick. Some greens you just cannot get above the pin this time of the year. you make it or you are dead. Smooth with few ball marks because of the firmness. Restaurant good for a golf course. Customer service excellent both inside/outside the club. Practice facilities and the GPS on the carts are both excellent. Highly recommended.

First time here. 1/18/2026 9:44 Sunday. 80 degrees by noon in January! Initial impression was pleasing as the rains have the greens and fairways looking postcard perfect. Challenging setup for a short yardage test. Very hilly with difficult slope. Greens are small targets in good to very good condition and rolling quick! No sand traps. Traps have been long ago filled. They play as a sunken grass depression. Half the fairways are quite bumpy due to gopher infestation. Manageable tree lines, only water on the 18th. Decent driving range on matts, carts ok, no GPS but good yardage markers thru-out. Tee boxes overall are thin and most unlevel. Cart paths could use a redo. Small clubhouse/pro shop, good friendly staff all around. Weekday old guy prices are right in my wheelhouse so I'm sure to return. d%mn Gophers!

It has been a few months since my last visit to this course, so I was very excited to get back out here. Utilizing my Casino Club Rate of $120, I was able to snag a 7:15 Tee Time, and after a frost delay and a couple of Native Elders heading out before us, we never saw a group in front of or behind us the rest of the day. What a special place to have to yourselves.

The course was in Fantastic Shape, like always. I am not sure if they finally decided to overseed the fairways this year, as they usually only do the rough, but the fairways were a nice lighter shade of green and had plenty of cushion and roll out. It hasn't been a cold winter, so maybe there is a chance it can still go dormant,nt but for now it's great. Rough was a dark green and THICK!!!. Tee Boxes and Sand traps were great with no issues.

Now we have to talk about the greens...... d%mn , they are fast!!!!! They were firm but would hold shots. When fixing divots, it was almost tough to move the roots. All putts rolled true, and yes, everything still breaks to the casino. I can only compare the greens to Barona Creek and Shady Canyon for the quickness its comically fast.

Overall, this is a premier Resort Course that even at rack rate holds its own. I highly suggest playing here if you get the chance. I just hope they still give me a discount after 1/31.

Out early as usual on a rather brisk morning. Not too busy, which was a surprise. The greens are wicked fast right now. Very easy to putt the ball off the green if you're not careful. Do not get above the cup or short side yourself, otherwise you have little chance to leave it close. The rest of the course is in really nice condition - truly a joy to play right now. For those who have played Coto North, the tree on #17 is gone. After being here for 36 years and having so many of tee shots blocked by that tree, it is bittersweet to have to removed. Makes hole much easier, but the loss of the aesthetics is hard to accept.

Played 1/15/26 @ 1140am. Course in ok condition. This is usually one of my go to courses because they keep their rates reasonable this time of year. The periphery needs a lot of work but the parts that matter (tee boxes, fairways and greens) were in decent shape. Tee boxes were level with good coverage. Fairways had good coverage with some thin spots here and there. Bunkers were rough with a lot of rocks in them, basically dirt- not sand. Greens were smooth for the most part and very firm. Approach shots will bounce off the back if not struck well. Course was really busy but pace was steady, finished in 4.5 hours.

Played today at 1/18/26 Tee Time was 11:15 AM. We were loading our gear back Into the car at 4:35. Poor course conditions really compounds the length of the round. 5 plus hours is absolutely insane. Most fairway grass was unmown. The rough was a mix of wild growing weeds and grass that has not seen a mower in weeks. The greens were firm and would not hold any shots, Super bumpy and they seemed like they were not cut is several days. Very shaggy and strange. I don’t think they know what a green roller is….they could use some rolling and verti cutting to improve putting conditions. Based on our visit today we won’t ever be back.
Better options out there. Way over priced and needs major improvements. Sad situation.

Played 1/14/26 @ 1233pm. Tee sheet was packed and I didn't think we would finish, but we did (4.15 hrs). Course in really good condition, almost great. Tee boxes were mostly level with the par 3s having a lot of divot damage. Fairways were pretty awesome with great coverage, no thin or bare spots anywhere. Rough was thick enough to affect shots but not overly penal (balls can still be found easily). Sand traps were nice and easy to get out of. Fairway traps had some small pebbles in them. Greens were running medium speed but approach shots were not holding well. Greens were very firm and divots were hard to spot. Pace of play was steady and not rushed. I forgot how fun this course was... I will definitely be back when the rates simmer down.

The Saticoy was again awesome!

Once again, the Saticoy was incredible. I don’t have enough positive things to say about this course, iThere are very few courses I can think of as far as layout, conditions, and environment that would be better in SoCal.

The course played its yardage, and fairways offered roll out on drives and approaches. The course is very well maintained and in overall excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.8 out of 5. I note the following: Tee Boxes: Level, and always green, no damage. Conditions excellent. Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Grabby with limited rollout. Conditions excellent. Greens: Green, fast in speed, on the medium to firm side, and very tricky to read at times. These Greens are a true test. Speed about an 11. Conditions excellent. Sand: Maintained with excellent consistency. Conditions excellent. Rough: Maintained and defined, about 3 – 4 inches. Conditions excellent. Waste Areas: Noted on a handful of holes, and such were maintained with overgrown nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Conditions excellent. Driving Range: The range was scenic, hitting off an artificial turf surface. The range places you on a mountain top hitting into a valley with various greens and markers that are situated in an area that is fully grassed, with markers from 100 - 225 yards. Range balls were quality Callaway golf balls. Range runout was about 275 yards. Practice Area: I noted a very nice chipping area on a lower tier away from the driving range. Conditions excellent. Practice Putting Greens: Two mid-size practice putting greens were noted, both in excellent condition. Speed of the practice putting greens were consistent with course. POP: 4.95 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole. We paced ourselves accordingly. Other: Noted a beautiful clubhouse, restaurant, and golf shop, all were top tier. Customer service was top level. And the food at the Snack Shop was lights out good! Thank you, Johnny and GreensKeeper.org for this GK / GM Outing!
