Lucky to know a member. Got to play out here before the aeration this spring. Mixed feelings about the course. Never found the staff to be that genuine, feels too corporate. Starter was nice. There are a couple issues. Pace of play was horrendous. Over 5.5 hours. That is simply unacceptable. As a serious golfer out there to play and not to drink I find that unacceptable. So that is sort of a dealbreaker for me. Either spread out tee times or make sure that certain groups (they were some members) play with proper pace of play. There were often 3 groups on each tee stacked up. Who pays upwards of $400 for that????
The redesign is pretty nice. But the experience was not.

Saticoy, you now have a piece of my heart.

Got to play Saticoy for the first time right behind the GK outing this past Monday. This one has been on my radar for years and now I kick myself for not finding my way out there sooner. Saticoy has vaulted up towards the top of my list for my favorite courses in SoCal. I don't know if I can give a bigger compliment to a facility than "this is a golfer's place".

The crew we met were awesome. You know they have an amazing and thoughtful team that they have a one head embroidery machine. First place I've ever seen to that so they can serve their members, which speaks volumes. Just great dudes in the shop and we only grabbed beers from the snack shop but that guy was funny and great too.

First and foremost, I can't think of a better short game area than Saticoy. I didn't want to leave. Give me a cooler, a speaker and about 6-7 hours down there and I'd be in heaven. We hit one shot we had with a rangefinder and it was 115 yards. AMAZING!!

The course? Unforgettable. It's rare that I finish a round and can remember every detail of every hole. Saticoy was one of those. It's massively interesting, challenging, fair, fun, creative and welcoming. 10/10 for the layout (I'm even giving grace to #10 which seemed massively out of place but I made a birdie so it's cool by me). I think my group got sick of me looking around and saying "this is classic Southern California golf". It is. It's championship golf with a socal vibe.

The conditions were perfect. And those greens? Let's go!

If anyone gets a chance to get to Saticoy, whether at a GK event or otherwise, do it. If you love golf you need to experience this place.

Played a couple of rounds at The Quail the last couple of days. First yesterday afternoon with DeepSea14 and then this morning with SDF. Quail always has great conditions and is known for the best fairways in the business. These last couple of days were no exception.

Even the grass on the driving range is perfect. Speaking of the driving range, it’s nice that the range is right next to the clubhouse, starter, parking lot and first tee. No driving for 5 minutes to get to the range and then rushing back to the first tee. It’s all right there. Having said that, the range does frequently limit you to 200 yard shots. This go around it maxed out at 250 so that was nice.

Greens rolled smooth at a fast pace. Not wicked fast put definitely faster than the standard medium-fast that most roll at. Greens have just the right amount of undulations and breaks to keep things interesting yet not be ludicrous. I only encountered a couple of un-repaired pitch marks throughout the two days of play.

Fairways are just pure bliss at Quail. Rarely will you find better fairways anywhere. The rough was perfect. Deep and thick enough to stop rollout during an off line drive but still plush enough to be able to get a clean shot. All courses should use the rough a Quail as their standard. It would rob you of serious yardage if you hit it during your drive but you still had a good lie to hit your approach shot.

Tee boxes were level with great coverage and divot free. Sand traps were ok and very playable but nothing to brag about. The best way to describe the bunkers is that if you encountered them on a muni course you’d be happy but on a high end course you’re disappointed. Staff is always friendly at Quail (minus one encounter at the end of yesterdays round).

Weather was just shy of “it sucked”, honestly these last two days were the coldest days I’ve ever spent at Quail. Even the car event in October that started at 6am wasn’t as cold as it was today! But that won’t stop me from going back.

Got my first taste the new Diamond Bar this week and I can honestly say that I'm impressed beyond my expectations. Not only is the new front nine layout really well done with the space provided, but I can honestly say these new green complexes are some of the absolute best in SoCal - and that includes a LOT of private clubs.

My buddy and I had an afternoon tee time and spent a few minutes on the solid range before heading over to the starter on the first tee. We played the blue tees which are a good challenge and rode. The carts are nothing special but get the job done.

The redesigned front nine now has taken the old par 3 9th hole going up that big volcano and turned it into a far superior par 3 3rd hole that still looks like it's growing into its best form but plays really nicely over the same lake. Then you get over to the other side of the property and the holes and setup are just really nice. The redesign has moved the holes a bit farther away from the freeway, so it doesn't feel as suffocating as it used to, and that's great.

The back nine hasn't changed much at all but still plays really nicely and is a lot of fun. The 18th hole is a real fun challenge and maybe one of the better closing holes in the city. There is a lot more open space now as well which means as this course matures it should be getting better and better in terms of coverage. It feels very wide open but has a lot of strategic bunkers that will make you consider your lines.

POP was also pretty good for the first half of the round, but we did back up a bit after the turn, but nothing too terrible, although I can imagine rounds here on the weekends taking a bit more time than someone would want.

In terms of conditions, once again the greens and green complexes are simply top notch. I don't think you're going to find a better looking green than on hole 13 - it's stellar, as are most all the others. Really great work by the redesign team here. I would give the greens even higher marks but you will find a lot of ball mark scars from the guests who don't take enough time to fix them, but they're not affecting superb rolls and great reception. They're just fantastic and you should definitely go play them.

The fairways were in good shape as well but I did see that they were coloring them with a sprayer so I'm not sure how much that says about their quality. From a visual standpoint, at least this week, the course looks very green indeed, but it's a chemical facade that I'm not going to complain about too much. Most of the course had very good coverage and I didn't find too many bad lies at all, but it looks even better than it plays. The rough was not too bad and there are a lot of mulch areas now that can make holes challenging.

The bunkers had good sand in them and I never had any trouble with those shots all afternoon, so that's always fun. The tee boxes were all in good, not great shape. We'll see how the course changes over the coming months as it grows into its new shape.

So overall, and especially with an entirely reasonable $60 rate with cart midweek, it was an absolutely fantastic experience at the new Diamond Bar and I can't recommend it enough. Really looking forward to getting back out there.

In town for work and was able to play 9 in the late afternoon. Course is in very good condition. I was very surprised how good it was. Greens have healed almost 90%, only downside is the vast amount of unfixed ball marks. Otherwise tee to green course was in good to very good shape. The tee boxes were good, fairways had some brown spots or uneven grass but playable, sand was good and I already mentioned the greens. I would definitely like to play all 18.

Played Wednesday 11:50 tee time. Range was on the mats instead of grass this day. Rest of practice facilities were open - great short game/chipping area. Pace of play was a little over 4 hours. Took us a few holes to catch the group in front, then short waits on each tee box after that.
Course is coming into the normal excellent conditions for the Goose. Greens are almost fully healed for the most part - probably another 2 weeks and will be perfect.
Tee boxes had good coverage and level. Fairways are near perfect. Sand traps are a bit of a mixed bag, not the super fine soft sand at other courses but certainly playable. Green surrounds are like carpet.
Staff friendly and helpful. Drink cart around twice on each nine.
Anohter great day at one of my favorite courses. Always recommend a round here.

Played South/North courses on 4/15 with a nice Golfnow hot deal, $53 with a 1:15 tee time which was significantly lower than rack rate. Haven't played here in probably 20 years, it used to be a private club when I was growing up and the conditions are still quite solid for a desert course despite being owned by a hotel chain now: Great teeboxes, lush fairways with very few dead/rough spots, rough was up to maybe over half a ball or deeper and required a good swing to get out of. Greens were hard and reasonably fast, mis-struck approaches or poor wedges rolled out a lot and putts rolled true. Fairway bunkers had hard dirt-esque sand but greenside bunkers had the really nice fine-grained white stuff.

I would describe the layout as an 'easier resort course' - South and West courses are lined with houses but nothing is too narrow, most of North course plays down and up elevation through the large drainage canal in the area, offering some nice views and close-to-blind approaches in some cases. It's easy enough on the scorecard at par 71 and 6300 from the blues, the rough and smaller greens are what give this place some teeth. Overall a very enjoyable experience, I was able to walk 9 and take a cart for 9, facilities are clean and staff was very friendly. Also: free range balls is a huge plus in this day and age of hyper profitseeking behavior from most public courses.

Played Oaks/ Lakes on 4/19/25. The Oaks was in such bad shape I thought I was getting pranked! Fairways were unmowed and the grasss was so thick and filled with weeds you could lose a ball in the fairway. The greens hadn't been mowed in days as there were white flowers sprouting up in random spots. Rock solid tee boxes, no sand in bunkers. We nearly left after the third hole, what a sh-t hole.
The Lakes was better and in the range of what you should expect.

Good thing we had a Golf Moose 2 for 1. I can't imagine paying full price for that course.

Rode the blues this morning 4/14/25 with buddies Matt and Mark joined by Matt who was a pleasure to play with. Our POP was 5 hours and we had very minimal waiting under beautiful cooler weather in the low 60s with a breeze that picked up on the back nine.

I have played here several times and the course is in fabulous shape[check out my IG account for pics] with nice lush Fairways 8.5/10, healthy juicy beautiful maintained rough 9.5/10, quick firm greens rolling about an 11.5 on the stimp 9/10, beautifully maintained bunkers with white marble sand 9/10 and tees that were level and lush 8.5/10. It's what you would expect a great private CC like Saticoy CC.

Love the challenging layout with numerous doglegs, elevation changes, quick undulating speedy greens and thick rough.

Def a club I would join if I lived in the area. One of the better courses in the county.

I saw the warning of maintenance but booked it anyway due to the difficulty of getting a decent tee time. That said, I can't remember seeing as much sand as I did on #6. I may as well have been in Dubai. Overall Rancho will always be a class of the field type muni but this place needs to heal for about 2-3 weeks before I'd consider playing it again. Pace of play was good at 4:15 with an 8:00 tee time. Maybe it was guys like us just taking auto 2 putts due to the conditions.
