Played 12/1/24 1:30 pm $30 for 9 holes with cart.
Course is in slightly rough shape. Fairways dormant and thin with many bare areas mixed in. Greens were in pretty good shape. Receptive, a little bumpy mostly from foot prints and ran at a medium pace.
Tees were thin with many bare areas. Traps have not been cleaned or maintained and are basically waste areas full of weeds. A good course to bring beginners or to just get out of the house.

Out on Saturday for a leisurely 4 1/2 hour round. Overseed of fairways has grown in nicely although there are certain "Indian burial round" areas that just refuse to grow anything. I think it's a drainage problem more than anything and until the course recontours the fairways and drains it will continue to be an issue. Fairways are a bit moist so a continuation of mud balls until they dry out somewhat. Greens starting to firm up and a nice consistent 11 speed and you have to play more bump and run chip shots rather than a straight flops landing within 5 ft of hole. Pin setter is finding more new pin positions lately that is a welcome change. Rough is dormant, knarly bermuda and not a place you want to visit. Sand traps remain the biggest issue with gravel poking thru in some spots while it could be quicksand a few feet away. Overseeded tee boxes are in good condition but tee markers don't get moved very much. About five holes are CPO for members but for Monday outside tournament play there are no such restrictions.

Played 11/27/24 9:40 POP 4:45. Foggy and cold start. When we arrived around 8:30. we were not sure if we could even play, but the fog burned off and turned into a pretty nice day. The course is in good shape over all. Winter conditions, Fairways thin and moist. Decent coverage, but mostly on the thin side. A mixture of lies, with mostly good. Greens were very good. receptive and fairly quick. It took a few hours for the heavy dew to dry so the first 6-7 hole were pretty wet. After that they were very good. Many unrepaired pitch marks. Traps are a course sand and looked firm, but played consistently well. A fun layout and mix of hole designs with many semi driveable 4s. This seems to add to the slow play because of people waiting for greens to clear. A fairly short course with numerous hazards that make it semi target golf. Driving range with mats and a large putting/Chipping green off by its self. A fun course in decent to good shape.

I watched the PGA Grand Slam of Golf for many years. Always wanted to play here. Today was the day. And I was not disappointed. Again started early to avoid any wind and found the course in terrific shape. Went to the range to warm up and found nice grass tees, target greens and a nice putting green. Found the course to be to my liking. Absolute great tee boxes. Nice wide fairways with a decent amount of roll but great lies. Bunkers were great as they just completed a restoration of them and they were perfect. Not much rough to deal with if you kept it in the fairway. Greens were absolutely the best I have played on in a long long time. The views of the mountains and ocean are some of the best at this course I have seen when playing in HI. Fantastic restaurant called Kauai Poki for lunch and drinks. Will play again before I leave without any hesitation. I believe Kauai will be my island of choice from here on in.

Enjoyed an early rather cool round of golf on Friday. Busy, as expected. Greens are the best part of the course now, Decent pace and rolled well, & receptive. The fairways are by far the worst part of playing this course. Tight fairways are one thing, but gritty, sand covered areas are something else. Just not fun to hit off these surfaces, and with winter weather, I suspect these conditions will persist for some tie. Sad! For the most part the bunkers are fine, as are the tee boxes. The difference in the fairways between the two course is startling. But maybe they won't call frost delays as often because sand doesn't freeze.

Flew over yesterday and had a great Hawaiian Thanksgiving. Got up early today to play here. So many times visiting HI and yet never came to Kaua'i but I finally made it. What a great golf course. And I am glad I invested in a Troon Access card because it saved me a lot of $$ today. Beautifully maintained course and great views from just about everywhere. Tee boxes are great. Fairways are wide and provided great lies and roll out. Only in one bunker and it played great. Greens are superb and wonderful to putt on. Had lunch at the grill afterwards and found the food excellent and the prices suprisingly really reasonable. Accomodations at the Westin are terrific. Rented a 1 bedroom villa that was bigger than my first apartment when I was a young bachelor. Yes there are great courses on the other Islands but I will put this one in the top 5 I have played in HI over the years. Highly recommended.

Back in Vegas for a few days and managed to get in a couple days of golf. After playing Souther Highlands on Wednesday which is in identical condition as before, we opted to head out to Cascata again as my buddy absolutely loved the course. Customer service is the absolutely the best as they take care of everything short of changing your shoes for you! After breakfast in the clubhouse we headed to the range. And it was COLD!. The wind was up and the temps were down!

I tried to request our last caddie Jerry but since we booked it on short notice and it was a holiday, he was unavailable. We got Doug who’s a seasoned veteran being in the business for 35+ years and 8 years at Cascata. Doug’s reads were spot on all day long.

As for course conditions and the basis for the review, the greens were disappointing this go around. there were a few that had some patch work repairs done that oddly enough, the greens keeper decided to put the pin within a few feet of. Usually, when a green has som bad areas, the grounds crew does a good job keeping the pin away from it so as to not effect the players putt. On top of that there were a couple different grasses popping up on the greens and then some bumpy areas. Overall I rated the greens at a 7 and that may have been a bit generous. Certainly for a course of this caliber, I expect better.

Fairways were similar to last time as were the tee’s and rough. I was in a few sand traps today and the bunkers were excellent!! Easily rated at a 10. Cascata is still a great layout with all of the elevation changes and water hazards. Is it worth the full price? Right now, I’d have to say no. Do the double down and play both Cascata and Arroyo Seco and that helps reduce the cost which would make it a bit easier to swallow.

I’m sure I’ll play Cascata again (The near hole in one guarantees that) but, it’ll be down the road when hopefully the greens are in pristine shape.

Still a great bargain to walk sixteen par 3s and two par 4s - you don't even need a tee time to walk, only if you want a cart. Conditions are fine, the greens a little shaggy and not fast. This course keeps things running nicely without frills. Disregard overpriced resort courses, embrace Modelo time.

Wife, my two boys (11 and 6) and I went out for an afternoon round at Indian Canyons South on Nov. 1, 2024. Got a decent deal on it for the four of us and it made for a phenomenal day!

When we pulled up, staff immediately came out to my Truck to pick us up in carts. Got us all loaded up and drove us to the clubhouse. Really nice guys and were loads of fun to talk to while we were getting loaded up. They even pulled some strings with the maintenance staff to turn the fountain on for my younger son (fountain was under maintenance, but my younger one kept asking if they could just turn it on for a minute and they did! It made his day).

Went in, got checked in, bought some kitsch. Guy at the clubhouse was great. Talked my wife into one of their famous bloody marys, which she quite enjoyed with her lunch.

Ate lunch at the clubhouse and it was exceptional. The brisket sandwich was just lovely.

Finished up lunch, putted a few balls, then went to the starter. Starter gave us a few pointers on the course and got us going.

With regards to the course, everything was in lovely shape. Tee boxes were fluffy and level. Fairways were pretty much pristine with just a handful of brown spots. Rough was not overly penal, but was long enough that you would want to avoid it if possible. Sand was fluffy. Greens were medium speed and not bumpy at all. Only downside to the whole course is that I was playing like hot garbage for the entirety of the front nine, but that is definitely my fault.

All in all, one of the better experiences I have had at any of the courses in the Coachella Valley. We will absolutely be back to play it again.

Played shotgun on 11/23 Sat... I've been out here once before maybe 15-20 years ago, before all of the housing... I don't remember it at all. But it was a fun course. Challenging off the tee, lots of forced carries and tight landing areas. Greens are big and undulating. Forecaddies are required, and a huge help. I don't think I would've enjoyed it as much without, as I would've made a lot of course knowledge mistakes. Greens running a slow 11. The course is in great shape. Nice to play to cross it off the list, but I think it'd be a mental grind to play here regularly.

Played Fri and Sun 11/21 and,24... Fri 12:18 4:40 round finished in the dark, Sun 8am shotgun, about 5 hr pace. Course in fabulous shape. Greens running about a fast 11.. huge and undulating. Always love coming out here when I get the opportunity. Rained overnight Sat, course no issues, greens a little softer and slower, but felt like they returned to Fri speeds on the back 9. This is my favorite So Cal public course.
