Played 12-3. Rams Hill re-grassed the fairways using a summer grass that is dormant in the winter. The also re-grassed the greens (and modified a few of them). We played the course twice yesterday. Weather was great. Staff was great. Pace of play was ok. Course conditions were decent. The greens firm and quick. The fairways are also firm. There are some spots with only patchy grass. Years ago, the conditioning here was pristine. Now, it looks more like a nice public course. No one is going to compare the course conditioning here to places like the Madison club or other top-tier desert courses. But the layout and scenic views at Ram’s Hill are solid. The green complexes are interesting and invite some creative shots. It’s a fun course. And perhaps in time, the conditioning will improve as the new grasses have another season to take hold.

Went out 12/2 and the course is in nice condition. Bunkers have been filled with nice new white sand. Only real problem is the rough is more level and less bumpy than the fairways. You never know which way the ball will bounce when it hits. Just one more item that made it a little tedious was they allow fivesomes and no marshal to move them along. I'm not sure but this might be the only course that allows that. This was the reason the 3 of us took over 4 hours to play a round.

Played today and found the course has improved in some areas quite nicely. Greens have firmed up and much of the damage from kikuyu damage has been noticeably repaired. Fairways are also drier and much firmer since aeration and provided much better lies and roll out from before. The tee boxes have all filled in nicely. Very little rough to deal with. Traps have all been refilled with new sand and play much much better that recently. Nice to see such improvements and hope the maintenance continues like this. And as always good customer service from the pro shop staff and grounds personnel.

Out early on a really beautiful morning. Gotta love Southern California winters. Course is in pretty decent condition Not perfect, but better than usual. Greens seemed to roll smooth and quick, or maybe it was because I made a bunch of putts? Most of fairways had good coverage, with some exceptions. Santa Anitia has always been one of my favorite County courses. Enjoy the parklike setting and diversity of holes. Ad long as you get out early, and avoid the crowds it can be nice way to spend a winter morning.

Walked the blues today 12/2/24 teeing off at 12:10pm finishing at 4:40pm with a POP of 4hrs 30 minutes under beautiful weather with 1 club of wind on the front and no wind on the back nine with temps in the low 70s. Joined by my buddy Matt and two nice singles Gary and Randy both locals.

Rustic is in beautiful shape for December with the fairways running a little firmer and tighter than previous months especially on the front nine but still in beautiful shape to compress irons. 8/10.

The tees were mostly all level, some divot damage on the par 3s but beautiful on the 4s and 5s. Rated 8/10

Oh the greens! Reminded me some of when this place first opened. Firm and fast and putting true! Close to a 12 on the stimp. Many 15 footers if not struck precisely can turn into 5/6 feet coming back. Just love the greens. They were still holding irons beautiful yet rolling devilish. Rated 9/10

Greenside rough beautiful, fairway rough in above average shape and the further you get from the fairways it turns tougher and firmer near the cartpaths. Rated overall 7.5/10

Not in any bunkers but they looked firmer and compact.

Looking forward to many rounds out here in the next several months. Highly recommended.

I played here on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We had the 8:40 time. Overall, course conditions are very nice. Everything was well moisturized from the previous days’ light but steady rain. Great customer service upon checking in. My buddy received a refund on the four senior players because there was no option for senior rate when booking online.

We got there early enough to have breakfast. Food is decent and reasonably priced. A better option for me would’ve been to go down to the range, but as it turned out, I never made it. I did have time to hit some putts; the practice green was good and not a lot of people using it.

On course, the overall conditions were pretty good. Great turf coverage from tee to green in all areas of the course. Greens were medium speed and did quicken up as the day progressed. Not too many ball marks to fix and they rolled true. We played the white tees on the front nine but moved back to the blue tees on the back nine. All the tees were level and not too torn up. Bunkers had good sand and appeared very well maintained. The beverage cart made several passes and kept the group hydrated.

For the senior rate of $60 riding I believe I will have to put this course on rotation.

Played on Monday, November 25, in mid-morning. I was paired with another single and we went off as a twosome. $46.50 with cart at senior rate. My partner stated that he liked to walk when he plays but this course has quite a distance between tees so he rides here.

The course was in good shape. It looked like Bermuda grass throughout and the rough was in hibernation. The Fairways were cut pretty tight but it was a good playing surface. The greens were medium fast and had some good undulation.

The course was quite wet. My partner said that it was unusual how wet it was considering it had not rained in the last few days. I almost lost a ball within 30 feet of the green until we found the plugged ball. There were several holes where the ball had mud on it in the fairway.

I enjoyed the layout. There were several holes across creeks to raised greens with rock faces, some interesting doglegs, and a hole where hitting the ball under a tree in the middle was the preferred shot. It was also unforgiving to someone playing bad, which I was. I lost three balls on shanks. I enjoyed the course though and would play it again hopefully.

Snuck out for a solo round at De Bell in Burbank this weekend after finding a single time online the night before. I played from the blue tees and joined a threesome with a 12:00 tee time. If all went smoothly then finishing should have been no problem, but we had some very slow groups in front of us and essentially were the last group to finish with enough light - barely.

It was my first time back to De Bell in four years and of course I was quickly reminded why. The front nine is such a bizarre set of holes and when you're not simply perfect then it gets incredibly frustrating quickly. Luckily the back nine is a little more traditional and saves the round. It would also be more enjoyable despite the quirks if the conditions were great, but that's simply not the case.

The greens don't appear to have been rolled in quite some time so that led to lots of slow, bumpy putts and even some greens that had large cuts right through the middle of them. It's up to the player to adjust to some degree, but the degree of inconsistency from green to green is just deflating at best. Fairways were also in mediocre shape with many large dirt areas starting off each fairway, so any miscues were highly punished. Rough was okay in areas but mostly non-existent as there's OB on all sides here. Bunkers get top marks though as they were very fluffy and easy to play from - great job there. Tee boxes? Meh.

No cart service and no GPS on the carts, while the driving range is simple but more than adequate. The pro shop is well appointed and there's a very nice restaurant and snack shop on the upper level - no complaints about that aspect of the course at all.

But ultimately, I'm reminded again why I rarely come back to this course. I did at the very least enjoy my best-ever score here, but that's not saying much.

Course is in slightly rough shape. Fairways dormant and thin with many bare areas mixed in. Greens were in pretty good shape. Receptive, a little bumpy mostly from foot prints and ran at a medium pace.
Tees were thin with many bare areas. Traps have not been cleaned or maintained and are basically waste areas full of weeds. A good course to bring beginners or to just get out of the house.

Out on Saturday for a leisurely 4 1/2 hour round. Overseed of fairways has grown in nicely although there are certain "Indian burial ground" areas that just refuse to grow anything. I think it's a drainage problem more than anything and until the course recontours the fairways and drains, it will continue to be an issue. Fairways are a bit moist so a continuation of mud balls until they dry out somewhat. Greens starting to firm up and a nice consistent 11 speed and you have to play more bump and run chip shots rather than a straight flops landing within 5 ft of hole. Pin setter is finding more new pin positions lately that is a welcome change. Rough is dormant, knarly bermuda and not a place you want to visit. Sand traps remain the biggest issue with gravel poking thru in some spots while it could be quicksand a few feet away. Overseeded tee boxes are in good condition but tee markers don't get moved very much. About five holes are CPO for members but for Monday outside tournament play there are no such restrictions.

Played 11/27/24 9:40 POP 4:45. Foggy and cold start. When we arrived around 8:30. we were not sure if we could even play, but the fog burned off and turned into a pretty nice day. The course is in good shape over all. Winter conditions, Fairways thin and moist. Decent coverage, but mostly on the thin side. A mixture of lies, with mostly good. Greens were very good. receptive and fairly quick. It took a few hours for the heavy dew to dry so the first 6-7 hole were pretty wet. After that they were very good. Many unrepaired pitch marks. Traps are a course sand and looked firm, but played consistently well. A fun layout and mix of hole designs with many semi driveable 4s. This seems to add to the slow play because of people waiting for greens to clear. A fairly short course with numerous hazards that make it semi target golf. Driving range with mats and a large putting/Chipping green off by its self. A fun course in decent to good shape.

I watched the PGA Grand Slam of Golf for many years. Always wanted to play here. Today was the day. And I was not disappointed. Again started early to avoid any wind and found the course in terrific shape. Went to the range to warm up and found nice grass tees, target greens and a nice putting green. Found the course to be to my liking. Absolute great tee boxes. Nice wide fairways with a decent amount of roll but great lies. Bunkers were great as they just completed a restoration of them and they were perfect. Not much rough to deal with if you kept it in the fairway. Greens were absolutely the best I have played on in a long long time. The views of the mountains and ocean are some of the best at this course I have seen when playing in HI. Fantastic restaurant called Kauai Poki for lunch and drinks. Will play again before I leave without any hesitation. I believe Kauai will be my island of choice from here on in.
