ALERT: (Projected Aeration & Overseeding Alert)
Will be aerating the greens and overseeding the Mountain Course 9/22 – 10/3 reopening 10/4 and then the Valley Course 10/6 – 10/17 reopening 10/18. There will always be 18 holes open for play.
* Please note that although we put a great amount of effort into forecasting course maintenance, we still recommend you contact the golf course to confirm this information.
If you have never played Robinson Ranch Golf Club you need to because the whole experience is a real treat. The golf courses are incredible, the service is tops, and the clubhouse has everything to offer. 2 months ago I had the pleasure of playing the Valley course so today I decided to experience its sister course the Mountain.
It seems the Mountain course doesn’t get its fair share of complements due to what a tremendous golf course the Valley is. However, in this golfers opinion the Mountain is also a tremendous course and a more enjoyable one at that. It measures just 6508 yards from the back tees but if you’re struggling with your accuracy, it will eat you up! It may take a round or two to make the correct club selections off the tee and half a dozen three putts to realize leaving yourself above the hole is a major “no-no”, but for all the triple bogies and X’s on your card, the scenic views and wonderful playing conditions more then make up for it. Yes it’s a tough course but there are also plenty of opportunities to post low numbers if you’re willing to take some risks or just play smart. In fact it is the extra demand for course management, as well as the many risk/reward type holes that makes me prefer the Mountain over the Valley.
As for the playing conditions: The greens were as expected perfect. Very fast, firm at times soft, and as smooth as a pool table. The fairways were a little thin is some spots but overall lush. The bermunda rough is dormant this time of year although its brown color defines the fairways beautifully. As for the sand traps and tee boxes, both were in good condition with only minor divot damage present of a few tees.
Overall I have yet to have been disappointed playing golf at Robinson Ranch since it opened a few years ago. The greens are the best around and the people are fantastic. Whether you choose to play the Valley or Mountain course you’re sure to have a good time. The only drawbacks could be the common windy conditions and the degree of difficulty the courses pose to the higher handicaps. That being said, I highly recommend both Robinson Ranch golf courses for the mid and low handicap golfers, and to those who enjoy playing truly unique layouts.
