Snuck out around lunch time and put my name on the wait list. Waited about 45mins and teed off at 1:10pm. Walking twilight rate $33 is a great value!!! Totally scored a great deal for a perfect teetime. We finished right around dark at 5:30pm, not bad POP overall at almost 4.5hrs. The front nine was a little slow and then the group in front of us dropped off, so the back played a little faster.

Pretty much same conditions as a couple of weeks ago when I played. Fairways were awesome. Beautifully mown with adequate rollout and perfect cushion. Greens were a little bumpy, but they were still fairly quick and held shots very well. Teeboxes were decent and level, not much of a problem. They weren't perfect, but no big complaints. Rough was not very penal, just an inch longer than the fairways. I didn't find any bunkers but they all looked good. Customer service was great, the starter did an amazing job working me in. Really appreciate it. Easy recommend.

I see the nice white, pristine looking bunkers and think these are a cut above the vast majority of golf courses in Southern California.....until I try to hit a golf ball out of them. I think I'm a pretty decent bunker player. You open the club face and hit an inch or so behind the ball and let the sand pop the ball out of the bunker with a soft landing on the green. Not these bunkers. What they appear to do is pack the sand down very tight throughout the bunker and then put a thin layer of loose sand in the middle. This would seem appropriate for a fairway bunker. In a greenside bunker the ball will always come to rest in the middle of the bunker, you'll never have a fried egg or be plugged in the face of a bunker. I watched shot after shot of mine and my playing partners being unable to penetrate the packed down sand. There simply was not a deep enough level of loose sand in the middle of the bunker to play a proper sand shot. The leading edge of the sand wedge bounces off of the packed sublevel of sand resulting in a skulled shot time after time. This is the dumbest set up of a greenside bunker I've ever seen.

Played this AM. When I last played here # 1 now was # 10 and # 10 was # 1. But I actually like this routing better. Now you start on a Par 5 and the flow and pace seems to be much better. Found the course to be in nice shape other than the construction going on. # 1 is a short Par 5 as they work on the green so it plays short with a temp green at present. # 12 is lowering the green by some 40 yards to improve pace of play and now plays as a short Par 4 with temporary green. And that effects # 13 as it is now playing from the gold tees but it still can be a difficult par 3. But the current playing conditions are just fine. No tee box issues. Fairways though thin will give good lies and roll out. Bunkers are all filled with good sand and playable. Though very little rough there are enough OB, small ravines and some water that one needs to be aware of and deal with. Not to mention the many trees. Greens were just mowed and held high shots and chipped/putted nicely with speed of about 10 IMO. And I had forgotten how small they are so hitting them in regulation is important. I did feel that the $65 rate was a bit high given the work being done. Especially with # 12 that always seemed to me as the signature hole totally a long way off from being back in service and making # 13 play shorter. They do have a Sr card for $65 that will get you a $40 play rate but I live to far away to make regular use of one. But I would invest in it if I lived closer and I do feel the course is one I would enjoy on a regular basis. Nice carts, driving range and putting green to go along with good customer service. They even let you take the carts out to the car to load and unload which I personally like. I would recommend this course w/o any reservations even with the construction going on.

Super Bowl Sunday round at Roosevelt which is a nine-hole course but takes almost the same amount of time as an 18-hole course on busy weekends. I don't recall this course allowing fivesomes before but every group out there - including ours - turned out to be one. It was definitely slow going as the round took three hours, but it was a nice threesome that joined my buddy and me, and a beautiful day in picturesque surroundings, so we survived it. Barely.

Course is in good shape right now relatively speaking but it will always have too much tree cover to ever be completely 'lush' in my opinion. But it's so unique and interesting for a nine-hole. Holes 2, 4, 6 and 8 can be real adventures if you're not at your best.

Right now the greens are probably the best part of the course. The fairways have good coverage in the main areas but things can get thin real quick on the fringes. Rough is nice and playable in most areas if it's grass and not mayhem. Tee boxes (played the blacks) are definitely in need of more grass or better-selected areas, while the bunkers looked just okay but I avoided them all day.

Nice little snack shop now at the start and the putting practice green is ample, but there's no range so keep that in mind before your round. And finally, at $23 for the round, it's a steal.

Played Super Bowl Sunday mid day. Course surprisingly not crowded considering it was clear, calm and in the low 80's.

Lush but not as lush as a month ago. Playing firm and fast from tee to green. Greens smooth and firm. Tee boxes and fairways near immaculate. Sand is immaculate. Rough a mixture of grasses, not tall but the lies will vary greatly within a small area.

Excellent practice facility and customer service. Highly recommended.

Played on Saturday. 1/2" rain made the course CPO. Fairways at this point are hard packed sand, very little in way of grass growing. Rough is dormant, patchy Bermuda, We joke that the club wastes fuel and labor mowing the fairways as there is not much to mow. Overseeded tee boxes have not been mowed for a week so it's like hitting out of the rough. Greens have returned to inconsistent conditions. Firm surfaces yet stimp speeds range from 8 to 12 from one hole to the next. Lots of unrepaired ball marks and unfilled divots. Sand traps inconsistent as well as they try to remove gravel from a failed bunker project several years ago.

Staff tries their best under new ownership but billionaire owner is completely MIA and his manager spends money like he is in welfare line. Heard so many promises over the last year, yet conditions have not improved but membership has grown where it is now almost impossible to get an online tee time two weeks in advance (tee times gone within a minute) however 20% of the players no show on playing day. Unfortunately it's the atmosphere the club has created, but they are in denial of situation. A perfect example of a club that is being "taken over".

North fairways really need new type of grass and improved drainage but that costs money of which the new owner is unwilling to provide at this time. Hopefully it gets the Shorecliff makeover in the future.

We used to play this course years ago on a regular basis but first time back in many years. Early morning 4.5 hour round on a fairly busy course. The staff is real friendly and informative about what has gone on with the facility and what is planned going forward. Upon check in every golfer was given a discount for a future weekday round. The practice green is still under repair with only about 50% of it being usable. There is no driving range with only bays and nets. The tee boxes were all level with pretty nice coverage. The rough here is not very thick or long where it is present. Most fairways are lined with brush, trees and water features. Many forced carries on tee and fairway shots. The traps all had ample sand but were all shaggy around the edges. The greens were still a work in progress but in much better condition that we had thought we would find. The greens were all really quick and improved with coverage as the round progressed. There were several ball marks on every green that golfers decided not to repair!! The entire course was marshaled to keep the pace of play reasonable and it was nice. The rates being charged are very reasonable for the course and area. We were told that May 1st would be the grand reopening and I would think that's when rates will increase. Definitely a must play and worth the drive. Recommended

Another great time at Bear Creek Golf Club on January 27th. Played with GDR23, barkydog and friend Brian from Vivid Golf/Golf Moose.

We lucked out with our location and weather in that the majority of SoCal was trenched the night before but Murrieta, although cold and damp, presented us a rain free day and beautiful golf course. I’ve played Bear Creek Golf Club now 5 times with this being the first time the fairways were overseeded for the winter. I enjoyed playing the dormant (still full coverage) bermunda turf winter fairways but loved playing the overseeded fairways instead (its my understanding BCGC will be overseeding in coming years as well for the winter). Although the ball did not roll out as much now, making the course longer, the ball sat up better. Best of all, it was the first time seeing the course with the dormant rough defining the overseeded fairways. Check out the photos I posted!

The greens were fast, smooth and loaded with tournament pin locations. ONE DAY I will have good putting round at The Bear, Monday was NOT the day. Wow, were those greens tough to read BUT A BLAST to play.

The bunkers were gorgeous. White, well maintained, perfect consistent medium/solf texture from hole to hole (can you tell I'm a bogey golfer/bunker connoisseur).

Its a pleasure running outings at Bear Creek GC. The staging area for 80 players max shotgun events keeps all your players nearby. The driving range (grass), practice putting, practice sand/pitching and clubhouse make it easy for our players to enjoy the experience. The Bear Creek GC staff are great to work with from reserving your event to the day of play and follow up.

So I stopped here on the way home to play another 18. Having played here many times in the past I was looking forward to the return. The sun had come out and I thought things would be better. Wrong. Pro shop great as well as the starter but thats were it ends. I found the tee boxes to be adequate. Fairways were wet, bare, thin and muddy. Traps were not very playable. Greens were all hard and many devoid of grass. Unfortunately the course is in very poor condition IMO. I played 9 holes and left. If the front was any indication of how the course was playing, I could only imagine what the back 9 would be like. I don't really like writing negative reviews on courses but there was really nothing postive about the round except the nice golf carts and really cool GPS. The course needs drying out, sun and some maitenance before I would play here again.

Finally got around to using my JC Resorts card free rounds. Decided to start here today. Unfortunately the morning was rendered difficult due to fog for 12 holes. As I had not played here in many years, I really had no recollection of the holes, so playing in the fog was not fun. I did have two locals playing with me that knew the course, but even that wasn't very helpful. Never had a issue with a tee box. Fairways are wide but combination of bermuda grass, kikyu grass and dampness hindered the lies and roll out. Also plenty of rough, OB, ravines, lakes and well you get the picture. Did find the traps to be playable thank goodness and there are plenty of them and they are large and deep. Also large undulating greens that were unbelievably fast (I would guess 11) and many of them elevated that made club selection difficult given the weather conditions. Once the sun came out on 14 you really got a sense of the layout of this course and why driving accuracy is a premium, length and good putting are so crucial to having a good round. The course is in the hills of Temecula and it really is a great layout w/o any homes and a tremendous variety of holes that will challenge anyone IMO. I would recommend one play this course but on a sunny day and when the course is dried out. Great clubhouse, very nice new carts, driving range right close to the first hole and a new restaurant that just opened. And great customer service as well.

Played this morning. All the damage from the recent storm has been cleaned. Some holes look entirely different with the trees taken out. Overall the course is in decent playing shape. Tee boxes are still filled with grass and clean. Fairways have many dry areas due to lack of rain (which is supposed to come tomorrow) and I noticed they had watered quite a bit overnight since the last time I was here. But they give great roll out and you do get an occacionally good lie on some grass. Traps are all in good shape with the new sand but players don't rake especially those who play on weekends and today it showed. Little to no rough to deal with. Greens are in very nice shape presently. They are firm, putt/chip well and have good speed. But again weekend players left a lot of divots from Sun play. Customer service still continues to be great from every employee encountered. To bad the restaurant only open for full menu Wed to Friday.

played sun 2/2, 8am shotgun. I think this might be my favorite resort/public course in the area. Haven't played here in many years, and it was a fun time. Course in good shape, the worst conditioned of the 3 i played. But overall in good shape. Tee boxes were surprisingly subpar. Greens firm and fast, an 11. They were the bumpiest of the 3 due to small ball marks not being fixed. Fairways lush, bunkers nice. The course is carved into the mountainside, and looks the most natural of the 3 Dye courses I played. 16 interesting holes, 2 or maybe 3 pedestrian holes. Overall had a great time on a beautiful warm day.
