The course had their greens and some fairways aerated on 3/18/2026. The greens are pretty clear of sand and the small holes do make putting challenging, but it is playable right now. The bunkers were dirt and mud, they need some work for sure. I had not played this course in 20 years and will be back. Pro shop check in was great, courteous and welcoming. The facility has improved since I was last on property.

All aspects for the course were in super shape especially the greens.

I have more events at Sunset Hills CC than other courses despite Sunset Hills CC’s lack of full distance driving range because the course is always in great shape, Sunset Hills provides us their full F & B services of Bar/Restaurant/Snack Bar/Beverage Cart hours prior to play, during & after play (no extra costs) and they have a wonderful staff with great attitudes always making us feel good/appreciated.

The Oaks Club at Valencia made a return to our annual private event rotation on March 16th. We’ve got our timing right scheduling our events to play here in the Spring as the golf course was once again in super condition. The Oaks Club at Valencia golf events team did a super job preparing for our experience and making sure we had a wonderful day. The driving range and practice putting/short game areas are huge. The snack bar and bathrooms are conveniently located where the golf carts are set up. The 1st and 10th tee boxes are well positioned at the turn for split tee starts if need be.

With exception to a few very tricky holes with some blind shots, I always enjoy playing the course. It was a great day teeing it up with rgm2525, GDR23 and for the first time OCGolfDawg. It means lot to me when GKers come play in these events :)

All moved in to my new home on Rancho Solano. 1 mile from the course. So today I had time to play a round.

Happy to say this is one of the best maintained public courses I have played in my many years of playing golf.

Pro shop is well run and provides top notch customer service.

Starting times are readily available and being a member of the Sr program adds additional benefits in rates and tee times availabiltiy.

The restaurant is well run and the food service and menu is great and so are the prices which are everyday until 6 PM. Have not decided if I like the happy hour better than the golf LOL.

Today I found the course in the best shape I have seen since I played here in Feb.

Tee boxes outstanding. Fairways with plenty of rollout and great lies.

Traps fantastic. Good sand and very playable.

The rough is not friendly but what rough is?

Greens as I have said before are HUGE and nothing like I have ever played on. So learning greens will be a challenge going forward.

Terrific course to play and I have never encountered so many wild Turkeys (not golfers but real Turkeys) on a course before.

This course in a must play if you are in the area.

South Course re-opens after being closed for a week for aeriation. As expected, the greens are bumpy and slow. To my surprise, no residual sand remaining? Several of the fairways in certain areas are having sod replaced. Strange that was not completed last week while the course was closed, but maybe the sod was not available? Anyway, nice to see improvements, whenever they are made. Overall, course is in good shape and a pleasure to play.

Out Tuesday 3/24 at 11:40 as single riding with a single, joining a riding twosome who played blues while we played whites. Road testing some swing adjustments and so wanted to take advantage of Woodley's open forgiveness. Teeing grounds never a problem here. Fairways were mostly good but I did experience some hardpan/bare lies as they are firming up and getting thinner in spots. As a result, more than average rollout. With a few slightly thicker exceptions, rough here is not punitive and adds to the expansiveness. I was in one bunker, the sand was good, but it needed some cleanup and grooming. The green surrounds were good. I had good day with my short game and frequently having a nice lie for chipping contributed to giving confidence there. I enjoyed the greens and they were the highlight — clean, mostly true and at a nice speed on the quick side. I recall the ninth green had some scarring issues in spots but that was unusual. Pace was good @ 4.25 hours. While not all aspects of my game were strong, it was a better than average round for me and reinforced the adjustments I'm making. Good times.

Rode the blues this morning in group 1b with buddies John, Ron and Mark in 4 hours 15 minutes under perfect golf weather high 70s with very little wind. 81 player event that moved nicely as we never had to wait on one shot.

This is the nicest I have seen the course.

Very lush thick kikuya fairways that were a joy to hit from. Perfect lies all day. Fairways 9/10

Rough was also thick and lush and probably 4-6 inches in most places. Rated 9/10

Was only in one greenside bunker left on 3 that was raked perfectly and in great shape. Rated 8/10

Tees were all very lush and mainly level. Rated 8.5/10

Greens here are very small on some holes like 1 and 14 and are larger on other holes. They were very receptive and rolling like pure glass. Fairly quick maybe an 11 on the stimp. You can tell they really take pride in their greens here.

The more I play here I enjoy the layout. First two holes are strong dogleg to the left while holes 3 and 13 dogleg to the right. Most holes are narrow here which I enjoy and gives you a nice line to aim ond concentrate on. Like most courses staying below the pins here provide ample scoring opportunities. Get on the wrong side of these green complexes and your chipping skills will be put to the test. The kikuya fringes surrounding the greens grab bump and run chips so most times you do need to fly chips to the green.

Course in fabulous shape. lush throughout. greens in good shape, true, a fast 10 on the stimp. the more challenging of the 2 courses. still wide fairways, but more danger near the greens on most holes. Fantastic resort, good customer service. restaurant good, 2 cart girls out and about. Both courses are in great shape and fun to play... probably a top 3 golf complex in palm springs. Had a great time.

played fri 3/20, 11am tee time... 109 temp, lord. 4:15 round. one of those things you book months ago, part of a big group, so you play. Was looking forward to getting out here, as it has been like 15 years. Pretty wide open driving course, good size greens.. water and desert features to avoid. Course in pretty good shape... these desert courses aren't hurting for water... green and lush throughout. Tee boxes look like they are working on, as they were sanded and there was a lot of wear. Greens a little bumpy and slow, like a slow 10, held shots predictably. Bunkers a little worn down; thin and pebbles, but definitely playable. survived, barely. Had fun, other than not wanting to be in the heat.

Great weather dry and hot after Santa Ana conditions the prior week. Tee boxes, fairways were fine with me. Greens were firm and fast with some crazy hole locations. Memo stay below the hole at Los Lagos. Play there now before they punch in April. Oh, POP is always like 5-5.5 hrs.

Work trip out to the Phoenix area and decided to brave the bad reviews and check out Kokopelli Golf Course. My playing partner lived about halfway between where I was and his house and we had to lock down a very early 6:40am tee time due to the heat in the afternoon currently.

I was surprised to see so many people hitting balls on the range at 6am, but there was good energy and the range itself wasn't too bad, although the mats definitely need some replacing. We grabbed our cart, joined another twosome out from WI, and played from the yellow (back) tees. Things looked promising as the holes around the clubhouse were very green and well-maintained.

Things changed quickly once the facilities were out of range. Each hole was progressively worse as we went along, with many having horrific dirt patches before and adjacent to the fairways, while the water features were empty bits of reed and bush carnage. The fairways are incredibly hilly throughout, which isn't a knock - just an observation. If you're expecting level lies all day - you wont' get them. But I always get a bemused chuckle when golf courses gussy up the first few holes and let the others slide. It's just kinda dishonest.

As for the course conditions, the greens were actually not too bad and had some crazy pin placements. There were a lot of flags on precipitous slopes that didn't allow for any misjudged speed. They varied greatly in size but never in difficulty. Coverage and speeds were pretty good, though.

The fairways were good to decent on a lot of holes once if you got past the mayhem, but again - that really depended on clubhouse proximity. Other holes farther away were really struggling to be up to standard. The rough was quite thick in some areas, super thin in others - no consistency. Bunkers didn't have sand per se, but more playable dirt that looked pretty bad but played better than its appearance. Tee boxes were all pretty good.

We had cart service throughout the day and POP was sub four hours since we were one of the first groups out and never once saw the twosome that was ahead of us at the first hole. These two factors were a good saving grace. I might have lost it had we been waiting and thirsty.

All in all, there are of course a hundred better options than Kokopelli in the Phoenix area, but if they ever got the conditions good and really put the work into the place, I think the bones and layout would be quite fun. But it's a long way from that at present.
